Dylan,
For some retarded reason I still have this notion that your sister doesn't think I'm a total tosser/I was completely and utterly sober at your party.
Talk to the knucklehead and get it back from him before he takes it back to the land of the long white cloud... forever.
Bringing up the whole "Pros vs. Joes" analogy (which I think I coined this time last year, but again this could be a total lie)... kind of reminds me of your party last weekend where your freshmen were showing all you old cunts how to take down a few pints.

Here is a tip, all of you shut your mouths. Nobody cares about SFU or UBC they both suck!

Here's a tip: don't alienate yourself from the Canadian track and field community aka the readers of TnFNorth.com by insulting them posting shit about the two biggest things in Canadian T&F: OFSAA and UBC vs. SFU.
That's just my tip for you, maritimes45. I'm sure lots of other people have some tips of their own for you...

Yeah, our rookies were in fine form, but heres the thing: one was out cold by 11:30, another taken home by the GF at midnight due to his over-the-top drunkeness, another fell asleep in my bed at some point, and a fourth ended up with his arms & legs duct taped together. So at the end of the night it was the "old cunts" who were left standing, and not due to lack of consumption either.
Lay off this maritimes character.... he's probably just jealous cuz we live in BC, and he lives, well, in the maritimes. That must suck.

Right about now, apparently the maritimes suck even more than Ontario (unless for some twisted reason you enjoy running through piles of snow)

Ok Frenchie I'll admit that OFSAA is clearly huge in Canadian T&F but come on SFU and UBC are not. I think it is useless for all of you guys who go to these schools to keep posting over nothing. You dont see actual good running schools like windsor or guelph doing that. Second of all feeens. Maritimes dont suck they just have smaller numbers.

What I think feens was getting at was the shitty weather that is currently plaguing the Atlantic provinces, which is decidedly shittier than the already shitty weather hitting Ontario. Try and keep up.

Nice to know at least somebody caught that. I thought it was obvious enough, but apparently not quite. I'm really not sure how "smaller numbers" fits in to what I said, though I'm sure someone who would misjudge the importance of this thread could also miss my point.

canada! come on! we discussed this... ixnay on the stupid-out-east-ay.... they're not getting any brighter and it just makes them mad. just agree with what they say and go about your business.
maritimes45,
i apologize for our terrible behaviour. you are quite correct. A thread between two canadian schools' cross country and track teams might be alright on some sites, but it definitely does not belong on a canadian track and field website. I also apologize to any of your friends or fellow countrymen who may have been coerced or otherwise tricked into wasting countless hours by constantly checking for updates on a thread that they don't care about. It's tough I know.
But I can relate. My friend billy joe has the same problem with porn. He doesn't even like porn, in fact, he thinks its pretty gross. but every time he has a computer in front of him he just can't help looking up all these porn threads and porn sites... it's like, geez guys, keep that stuff in the magazines or on the vhs, but the internet and porn do not belong together. just like this thread, it's distracting people from illegally downloading mp3's and editing wikipedia to include false information about topics school-age children often have to report on.
I officially declare this thread dead now, mr maritime (turn and wink to everyone west of Rimouski) mr. maritime, from now on, if it says someone new has posted on this thread, just assume its me reminding people how dead this thread is, and carry on to download some more of classified's new beats. peace.

obviously dgant, illwill, phoenix, frenchie etc etc. will continue with their witty banter and make this thread what it is every year.
Maritime, who cares about windsor or guelph not talking shit to eachother, they are probably all over on trackie or something.

I must agree...I found this thread to be rather entertaining before I even attended one of the schools. Plus, we do run all 3 seasons (XC, Indoors, Outdoors) out here, unlike Guelph/Windsor...plus we have some meets basically against each other. The rivalry should be embraced.

I'm neither grad of UBC or SFU because I only got through HS in Ontario, which by rites would allow me to teach at either UBC or SFU, but I digress.
This thread allows me to get through work on the dark and dreary days here in Ontario. Days that I don't want to run, I read a quick excerpt on here and I have the fire in my belly again.
Carry on gents, as you were................

Appreciate the support Tundra and BJ (phoenix what?!), but tundra, i am a little lost of your rip on the west coast institutions.
quick breakdown of your first sentence (and i'll ignore any grammatical errors , cuz nobody cares about that)
1) the sentence starts with you positioning yourself as a graduate of neither of the schools in question 2) your reasoning for not being a grad of either school is because you were only able to get through HS in ontario (thereby indicating that your grades would not get you accepted into either sfu or ubc) 3) you claim that because you couldn't get accepted into either school and only got through HS in ontario, you therefore could teach at both of the schools in questions (<- this would be the part where you lose me) 4) you digress.
as we were:
UBC, anybody racing at UW next weekend? perhaps our invite the following week?

Post by Frenchie on Mar 23, 2008 19:04:27 GMT -5
i do believe he is implying that to teach at either ubc or sfu, it is not necessary to be more accomplished academically than the students at said institutions. hm.... who would've guessed? i guess all the high-school dropouts got all the good jobs and that's why all the fields medal winners and whatnot were left with teaching here.... poor guys. shoulda slacked off more in school.
anyway.... i guess my racing schedule is out-dated... would your invite being the week after uw not conflict with ralph vernacchia (unless i'm completely out of it and that's been rescheduled too)?
how about the "april 12, ubc & sfu, hosted by ubc" that my schedule says, is that still on? if it is it better be at point grey high... that track's niiiice.
and yes there will be plenty of royal blue with gold lettering jerseys milling about the track at uw next week. some of them should be throwing down some pretty dece races too.

Posting on this thread illustrates it's need to the small running clique this side of Banff, and the whole globe..
Maritimer, if you don't like it. DON'T F*CKING READ IT. (and get back to the attic, nobody likes you).
Holy shit, UW is this weekend... o snap.
Did darkside add at 3k to your meet in two weeks? I know she hates anything distance, but have a hairt...
Frenchie, point grey is not a nice track. It's glorified asphalt... kinda sucks.

I know it's a while from now, but I just thought of something for next cross season... post-season hockey game. Clan vs. Tbirds obviously. Alumni welcome.
I was thinking about some kind of wager but then realized you guys have alot of easterners and we have mostly lower mainlanders... so we'd probably get smoked...

Hey, allow me my digs on Lower Mainlanders...
oops did I say we'd get smoked? I meant they'd get smoked... because everyone knows teams from out east can't play a decent game of hockey west of Ontario. Seriously... that's why the Sens always lose when road trip to Western Canada.

Wow, everybody wants a shot at the cup eh.
As defending champions of the annual tin (foil) cup battle between sfu track and sfu soccer, we were planning on a game sometime in the future to give soccer another shot. If you guys need the whole summer to get into game shape that's alright, but i'd love to watch ubc track vs sfu soccer battle it out this weekend at wrestlemania for the label of number one contender and a shot at the belt..
Or, if anyone can dig up an nes, 2 controllers and a blades of steel cartidge, we can just settle this like we did in 1990... earn powerplays by winning fights.
and lower mainlanders... eeshh. whitby's where the talents at boys. hockey and otherwise.

UBC track vs. SFU soccer... as long as we're playing the girls I'm down for sure. I wouldn't mind taking Ms. Gantypants down a peg or two. For those of you man/woman enough to endure the wrath impending at Pemberton Music Festival, here ya go. Presale tickets: places.musictoday.com/pembertonfestival/password: rock **Disclaimer: I am in no way responsible for presale tickets being sold out, I told my mangle friends on the Island about yesterdays password last night and all the tickets were already gone, to which a small riot was started somewhere in the streets of Oak Bay**... first in best dressed, and i'm decked to the nines

Was just doing some reading on proposed NAIA policy amendments...noted something interesting that may apply to some of the younger athletes: apparently they're looking at moving to allowing 5 years of competition beginning August 2009, though it still needs to be completed within 10 full-time semesters. As well, looks like they're looking to add an age rule to the mix: an athlete loses a year of eligibility every year after they turn 21, whether they're in school or not. Link is here if anyone reads to read the changes: graphics.fansonly.com/schools/naia/member-services/legislative/2007-08%20Proposed%20Amendments.pdf

I would say that that deserves it's own thread, but then again, we are the only NAIA members on here.
Regardless of whatever changes the NAIA makes, us tbirds don't really need to worry about it unless UBC's proposed move to the NCAA falls through...
The age rule seems kind of harsh.

What were the conditions like at UW today? It snowed fairly hard here, considering we are about to enter April. People happy/pissed/indifferent about their races?
