I can tell you from personal experience that beer mile training indirectly correlates with distance training.... just take the first two or three years of my university 'career'... should you call it that.
Gant, the peanut gallery can tell you that my new found mobility devices and pessimistic attitude towards life in general that, to put it in the words of a Titus "I err faaaacked"
Judging from the facebook pictures from SFUs 'totally random night'... that smell of tuna you're talking about ain't coming from our neck of the woods.

....you mean to say that there is an inverse relation (btwn. beer mile training & distance training)....sorry, gotta police the scientific lingo on this thread.....i mean, if we don't have our egotistical academically-superior attitude, then what have we got.....a nude beach? i for one will take my academic holier-than-thou-ness, thank you very much....

Will was correct in saying indirect correlation. It is synonymous with inverse relationship and negative correlation.

Okay, we get it, you're pissed we're not running Willamette. After the whuppin' you took at Sundodger, you'd think our absence would be welcome. Oh, thats right, you were missing 4 of your top 5. Riiight, sorry, forgot about that.
All cheap shots aside, I agree that we should be in Oregon this weekend. At least it'll be sunny here, and we do have Azusa to chase after. Peace

no comment as in let's just say certain 'secret weapons' were never put into operation due to....technical difficulties. let's also just say that certain commerce-types hell-bent on climbing the shit out the corporate ladder in a damn hurry missed a certain race in favour of getting a head start on demolishing said ladder.....and that certain pseudo-spaniards with a penchant for falling off the motivational boat when the seas get a tad unsteady have a certain tendancy to seek out shirts with a certain redish hue in the event of said anger of the waters....
but, me being me and we being us, i'm gonna keep my chin up and look on the less shady side of this salty cucumber in which we have found ourselves.......our team does have some very good qualities that i believe some other teams in region 1 are sorely lacking (and they'll be sorry for it.....eventually)....to use an analogy.......one might compare us to the tampa bay lightning circa '02.......the team that had yet to see the business end of a razor, was brimming with raw, misguided talent, and only needed one ingredient to fulfill their ultimately successful quest for the Cup: time.

get your act together sfu. you should be a top 5 team. sometimes you just gotta come down hard on the troops dyl. I mean, how many times did rudy have to get thrown in the mud before he got pissed off and made something happen. UBC... you guys need some motivation too. www.allsp.com season 10, last episode - "stanley's cup" . Dylan, i figured this was the easiest way to get you to watch it. "just remember boys, win or lose.... those are you're two options - WIN or LOSE"

holy smokin sex pistols you guys dropped like my roommate's grades.......
we better all pull our collective figurative blue and red (respectively) socks up boys.....else this thread will be as lifeless as it's been for the last couple days. i won't lie, i was pretty disappointed with the post-willamette/ stanford smack, or should i say lack thereof..... get into it already, else i might have to cook up a few more sign in names and just talk with myself on here....hey, someone's gotta entertain the kids.....

this is just too good to be kept under wraps.... youtube.com/watch?v=e3QBKD_X_lotwo questions: how did sfu land that annoying guy from sportscentre? i swear it's him..... also, the little old lady that culley just outkicked in a neck-and-neck battle to the line....was that corban college's 5th or 6th finisher?

You guys should know who Corbin's 5th guys is, didn't they beat you at Willamette? I admit I didn't even look at the results from that shit-show of a meet, but from what I heard, it was ugly for the T-Birds. Almost as ugly as Stanford was for us. Whatever, redemption is close at hand....
Don't mess with the Mitch Culley Express. It has one goal: get to the finish line as fast as possible. It will go through any obstacle that blocks it's progress toward that goal, including little old ladies. Be afraid.
Phoenix, up to this point I've following the Wayne Gretzky coaching/captaining philosophy: lead by example, keep a level head, and generally be a nice guy to your teammates/athletes. However, should we take another proverbial shit in the bed this weekend, I'm going Iron Mike on everyone's ass. It won't be pretty, and I won't enjoy it... ah, who am I kidding, I'll love it! So boys, don't f*ck up on Saturday, lest you feel my wrath.

Okay, first of all, lay off our video guy. He's supposed to shoot the footage and edit it; he has no broadcast training. I guess it shows.
Second of all, racing every weekend makes you tough: mentally tough and physically tough. Let me tell ya, we're the toughest mothers in the NAIA.... at least thats what I keep telling myself. Gotta stay in a positive frame of mind, right? Besides, 4 weekends in a row is nothing. Wait till track season.

I've taken dumps that can record, edit and upload better youtube videos than that... although, i must admit, that corey hart comment is gold. I seem to remember Gantypants mentioning a straight 7 or 8 week stint on the red rubber last season.... so relatively, 4 weeks is nothing.

THATS Corey Hart? Fuck. I'm embarassed that I was even mentioned in the same sentence as that douche bag.
Its a shame that this thread has devolved into a "bash SFU youtube videos" party. This rivalry has died the last two years. There are no surprises anymore; either we smoke you, or you kill us. Makes for bad message board threads. Ah well, maybe track'll be different.
And I got away with only 5 straight weeks on the tartan in the spring, all though a few poor souls made it to 7. Poor bastards.

all right, i'll admit that there's not much of a 'rivalry' to speak of, not if you guys keep beating us by 4 million points every race, but that doesn't mean we can't keep making fun of each other in immature ways with juvenile insults, embarassing anecdotes and the like.
admittedly, this thread has been about as exciting as whale shit over the past week or two, but since i only have two midterms to study for and not six (lucky me eh) i'll see if i can't stir the pot a bit with the first annual edition of frenchie's mid-season status report on select dickheads from either team.
UBC Tbirds: will: ok so the hype fell a bit short but i'm convinced he's just messing with everyone's heads and will bust out a clutch performance and come up big at regionals like he did last year. all i know is the race results and the workout splits aren't exactly matching up, so something's gotta give.
inaki: it takes true a baller to drop a minute-plus over five miles over the course of a week. it takes even more of a baller to do it going from willamette (uber speedy) to the evergreen course (not so much).
eliel: damn that mohawk is badass. it hasn't seemed to help his running any, but as we all kow, xc is all about the intimidation factor.
SFU Clan: newfie brockerville: well i didn't understand a damn word that came out of this kids mouth when he was busy babbling out what seemed to be some kind of newfie folktale or riddle in the warmup area, some pre race ritual i gather? but i'll give it to him he's hella fast, looks like the future of the clan is in good hands....until he fails 1st year english because his profs can't understand a damn syllable, that is.
the mitch culley express: once again i am convinced that the clan is host to a good number of closet queer eye for the straight guy types....well maybe they aren't in the closet after all, as 'the express' was seen sporting some dandy jewelry and piercings on saturday......made waves with all present fashion photogs. however the frasers seem to have reverted to more masculine clothing, bucking the trend.....tisk tisk boys....that is so 5 minutes ago.....
phoenixvic: where art thou? how the air doth smell the fresher in thine hateful absence...... out of eligibility? awaiting the sunnier, more hospitable climes of red oval season? i wager it's the latter.
har har har

The only thing that mohawk did was give me a nice chuckle before the start of the race. Loosened me up a bit, so thanks for that.
Don't be fooled by The Express' outward, metro-sexual appearance. The guy is a bad-ass. A tobacco chewin', '73 Firebird a drivin', burnouts a doin', big kicking and long licking bad-ass. Combined with his phone book ripping, funny talkin', big pimpin' running mate The Newfie, the future of SFU Cross Country is in good hands indeed.....if I can only get them to lay off the whiskey and let that cocaine be.

Yo Freeenchie, Are you okay...do any of the UBC'ers need help? Are you all stressed out because here at SFU we have an amazing counselling centre for you. So with all the pain you have been going through by us beating you 4 million points every race, we have taken the initiative to bestow an invitation to one free session with our sex therapist....Dr. Phoenix. Alll you need to do is use our greater vancouver translink service to do some trip planning and bus your self 3 hours taking the most indirect route possible for your appointment. Maybe you'll wait half an hour at a bus stop and nearly get hit by six very large, very powerful ex london transport buses. youtube.com/watch?v=1pzOuzV8iF0&mode=related&search=Maybe this will happen when chasing after the bus... youtube.com/watch?v=AKVBK-0veE8&mode=related&search=
