Mario, that was just done at registration as I registered them at the same time as everyone else; rather than having to go through the entire process again for each of them. Dana will be competing as a disassociated, not that it matters because we don't have a team in the senior women's race. Chris will be competing as an unattached BC athlete. Both are frustrated that they can't represent their club but alas this is the way the rules are structured; hopefully, we will see some change in these rules in the future. Are all groups allowed to enter all their athletes at once to save time, even if they are disassociated or members of other clubs? I would like to be able to reduce time in the registration process each year, as well, as it gets to be a lengthy process. I am familiar with the changes you're trying to effect re: out-of-province athletes. What changes are you working towards that would allow an athlete currently registered with another club or disassociated through to December 31st to be allowed to compete for a new club at an AO/AC-sanctioned event within that time frame?

Absolutely Steve, I went through normal procedures to register Dana and Chris, you could select register as a team and register multiple athletes in the same race. I assumed that is what everyone did. I sure hope you didn't register each of your athletes one at time, that would have been incredibly time consuming.
I think athletes should be able to switch clubs during the year if they want to, particularly if they are switching from unattached to a club. It should be a goal of organizations like AO, BC Athletics, etc. to encourage athletes to be affiliated with clubs.

The last 2 years, I've entered all LRDC athletes as a team, and then gone back in to enter any individuals from our training group not AC-registered under LRDC. I didn't realize that I could enter, say, one of our Disassociated athletes who just transfered to the group along with our team. Also, I didn't realize that we could list such athletes under our club name, even if that's different from their AC designation and what will appear in the results.
The past few years, it seems as though AO has tried to make it even more difficult for athletes to transfer between clubs. Interestingly, we had a local club refuse to sign a Disassociation form despite full fees having been paid.
Sorry for getting off-track. Re: Canadian XC, I'll offer some SM predictions to go alongside Matt's:
1. Speed River 2. PIH 3. UTTC 4. Physi-Kult 5. London Runner 6. Edmonton 7. TOC
Would be nice if the top 10-12 clubs ante'd up next year and sent full SM, and hopefully SW, teams.

Steve, If I remember correctly from previous years there were a number of changes sent to us by AC that had to go into the results. They filter through the entries on that end and make us aware of the changes before final entry lists are posted. The results come from those entry lists so if there is an athlete that can't yet represent a club they will not show up under that club in the results.

Apparently, the PIH are now flying in, on private jets, club members Jon Brown, David Jackson, Mark Bomba, Scott Simpson, Nixon Kiprotich, Willie Langat, and a few "secret" members to buttress up the team at Nationals..... Just f***ing with you Maybe next year, or whenever or if-ever some National Meets come out West again... You are right though, Steve --- it would be awesome to have a dozen clubs trying to win Senior Men and Women's titles at National Cross, especially if it was in February...lol...

It looks like I might be running alone by at the back of the senior men's race. I know I'm slow and I don't get sucked into the fast early pace, but I like to support this race. After finishing 2nd last in 2008, I'm in a lot better shape. Unfortunately, the guy behind me and 3-4 of the guys that were ahead of me aren't running. As long as the race is in my home province and I'm healthy, I'll be racing. The small senior fields can't afford for any of us to skip out.

This is our national X-C championship, and all those who love X-C should be running it, if they can afford the time and money to get themselves to the race. "The National", England's 100 year old X-C championship, while not what it used to be, still attracts over 1000 senior men and 8000 entrants in all. That's a little over twice the population turning out 10x the number of entries. Granted, the travel is a little cheaper when you're going going a few hundred miles at most, but still... The average English runner does the "National" because he/she is a cross country runner, not because he/she has a chance to win, or even finish in the top 300! The event is competitive, of course, but it is also an all-ages celebration of the sport itself. I'd like to see our championships treated in the same way and you, Young Pratticus, represent a step in that direction!

No love for Thorson? he was sixth last year but not even a possible top ten by you.

I was going to put forth Marilyn Arsenault's name as solid top 6 to 8 finisher, but I see she was invited to race in the Great Australian Run ( 15 K. Championships) in Melbourne this Sunday, so she won't be in Guelph. I would be pleasantly suprised to see Simon Whitfield in the top 5. He is a great "natural" cross country runner, but hasn't raced in quite a while, so I think top 10 is reasonable, but top 5 would be a great result. I predict he will be easy to spot, for those who don't know him, as he loves to run/race with his ball cap on backwards. I believe that both Osaduik and Mosley, if they recover well from their Chiba expedition, will also challenge for the top 10 on a good day. Bairu seems to be flying in training, and will probably be very tough to beat. Team battle for Senior Men ---- could be close! Good luck to all - have a good run, eh !

Those who saw Dylan Haight at BCs might agree with me that it would seem a safe bet that he'll be in the top ten in the junior race
