Even more important than AOs, what are the predictions for Nationals? Something that everyone here can get into (not just the Ontario High School crowd). Will we get a decent field in the Senior Women? I think we can take an educated guess on that one. Who is coming back after their NCAA seasons to take a shot at the junior crowns? Let's hear some stuff about this meet, it's only 2 1/2 weeks away!

BC has a young but talented junior boys squad this year. They will really surprise the boys back East. A couple of them have a shot at making the National team.

I'm wondering if there is going to be better or worse participation based on new AC selection criteria for Worlds. I know only a fraction actually show up with that in their minds, but how big a difference will it make?

I was wondering the same thing, it shall be interesting to see how this new criteria affects the runners mentality. Another factor is also the H1N1, weve seen the affect it had an provincials, by nationals im assuming the vaccine will become available to the general population. In terms of the race I expect to see the westcoast guys do well this year, James Leakos, Dylan Haight, Luc Bruchet, Mottias Walter, Mohammed Ahmed and John Paul Mallete are some of the guys that I think will finish in the top 6.

The Prairie Inn Senior Team will be Richard Mosley, Steve Osaduik, Jim Finlayson, Kyle Jones, Kris Swanson, and Simon Whitfield. Jon Brown is focused on Fukuoka, so won't be in Guelph. That might have added a little spice to the team battle...

Yep, I've heard both Kyle and Jasper Blake speak fondly of their time in Guelph. Same with Simon, except Kingston of course. Hey...start out in Ontario, end up in Victoria, it's all good....

Andrew DeGroot will show the world what he is made of come Guelph this year. The guy's got it all. Every time I watch him race he brings home the bacon. His loose-armed stride strikes fear into the heart of his opponents, and I truly believe it's extreme range of motion frightens his teammates as well.
3rd at OFSAA with H1N1 speaks for itself...Also he recovered within 24 hours and had enough juice to help the Huskies to a Silver Medal finish at the OTFA Championships. Beast? No. DeGroot.
Dylan Haight? Dust. He's going way down, lets get real.
Lucas Bruchet? Inferior.
Simon Bairu? Who knows? Rumor has it that DeGroot is racing both the Junior and Senior races to prove his immense strength and the success of Hugh Cameron's deadly "double peak".
Be afraid, Canada...

Degroot how many account's, in which you promote yourself do you need. Swine flu or no swine flu Tristan wouldve won ofsaa, and this "loose-armed stride" strikes no fear, it's just ugly.

This is actually much funnier than you might have intended, although in a different way, since "mountain man" Nick McGraw basically swallowed this guy whole on the hills in New Market today-- the same Nick McGraw who hasn't has run a serious race in 2 years! (He's been incommunicado in the mountain ranges of a few different continents over the past 18 months or so.)

Just working odd jobs, hanging out, and doing what he loves best, which is walking up mountains. He's back now, however, and getting back into some running again. He did this thing today on 6-8 weeks of running and a handful of workouts. However, the hiking is excellent training in itself.

No, I run NOC which is the club he runs, and he just had his regional meet and now he is coming back home to run Nats, then heading back to Wisconsin

and grant, tristan wouldn't race against degroot and mo regardless

Because he's taking a break? Or because you think there's more age groups than there really is for nats?

and grant, tristan wouldn't race against degroot and mo regardless Unless Tristan was looking forward to the opportunity of raising a shit-load of money, so he could have the privilege of wearing the maple leaf in International Cross Country. I'm sure that's how it works in Triathlon as well....or maybe not...

well boycey, i was going by otfa age groupings, but now i seem to remember that in 2007 boorsma and leeder raced junior, so you are indeed correct. nonetheless, he won't be racing. and ronb, tristan isn't skipping nationals to protest against the organizers, or becuase he doesn't want a chance to represent canada internationally. he just needs a break. multisport athletes can't run themselves down to hard, look at verzbicas in the usa, he has to pick and choose his races, and didn't even run track for his school last year.

I was just clarifying your reasoning, that's all. There's only a junior category really for high school runners.
