i think romaniw and sayers have the potential to at least give the record a scare but jrae definitely had the best chance however it should get good with him and malette in the 1500 now that he's concentrating just on that that much is true

i wonder why Rae dropped the 800m though, with the 1500m heats on day 1, and the finals on day 2, he could have still ran the 800m heats and finals on day 3/saturday and still medalled. Even after going possibly a sub 3:50 1500m, running on fumes in the 800 would have captured a medal. I guess it's go big or go home.

Just a hunch, but I think he's going for a big 15 PB as opposed to 2 OFSAA golds. And yes, he would have pulled it off.

but could he not just go all out in the 1500 and acheive whatever goals he has for that (ofsaa gold/big pb) and then just do the 800 anyways afterwards with whatever he has left just to see how he can do? i dont know tho maybe its better to just focus on the 1500 and not worry about anything else in the back of his head

i personally think he can do both well and potentially double gold. we've talked about this. but i also think given the amount of work that is (4 races in 3 days) it's very hard, and this is just the start of the season. there's still plenty of races in june and july, and wearing himself out early is not the best idea. i also think jeremy realizes that there's bigger, better goals to life than getting a gold medal at ofsaa (blasphemy!).
either way, too late to speculate. he's scratched the 800, it's final.

okay its been requested that I put this to rest. Jeremy is not running the 800 in order to save himself for an attempt at a sub 4 minute mile in Portland Oregon the next weekend. Its an elite high school field with a pacer through 1000m I believe. link to the meet is here ...http://www.dyestatnw.com/?pg=reg7-2009-Outdoor-OR-090613-Portland-Track-Festival
I for one support his decision knowing this could be pretty big for Canadian distance running.

anyone think rae's going for sully's 15 record of 3:42.33? more importantly, anyone think he's got a shot at it? he has looked pretty impressive this year, but i think a 7 second pb might be a little stretch even for jeremy.

Yeah who knows if he could pull that off. I think its a stretch this early in the season. Maybe later in the summer he can get it down that fast but probobly not next Friday

see a post of mine in another thread that caused a few people to believe that i was sleeping with jeremy.
i think he can do it, and if he believes hes ready to do it in portland, he probably is.

That isn't trolling. Don't be an overly sensitive little girl. Trolling is off-topic or controversial remarks said online to stir up conversation or make people mad.
This guy was 100% correct, I quoted him for emphasis. That is not trolling, it is a relevant post that just makes you look dumb.

well sullys 342 is pretty much the equivalence (he did this solo?). I'm not sure if he ran that in his 12th or 13th year. But i imagen he was capable, unfortunetly if you do not do what rae is, going to the south for a lot of races, there really isn't any opportunity.

The three Canadians that have ran sub-4 miles in high school
3:58.08 - Marc Oleson, 1983 3:59.29 - Kevin Sullivan, 1994 3:59.85 - Nate Brannen, 2001
Rae's attempt at a sub 4-mile is gonna difficult......But it would be awesome for Canadian mid-distance running if he did.....it would definitely be a surprise to a lot of ppl.........I remember when Duncan ran a 344 the week after ofsaa where he ran 349.....so It's possible. Don't doubt the guy just based on the times your seeing now, he hasnt had a stacked field to help him run a super fast time yet.

the rest of the field has been announced for the sub 4 attempt and i think this is the perfect race if he wants to go sub 4 as there is such u.s runners as trevor dunbar(known for his crazy youtube runs in alaska) robby andrews and mac fleet who are guys capable of keeping the pace after the rabbit drops out, rae should make it his goal just to win the race since that will probably carry him to sub 4.

Jeremy has had to decline the invite to Portland. He'll be racing at the Midwest Distance Gala in Chicago where he has his own personal pacer for 1000m as well. Pretty fair trade off but Portland would have been an amazing experience.
