Opportunities for "post-game shenanigans" are limited when your rival school's women's team decides to go to bed at 9pm. Unacceptable. And I have to say that the after party just isn't the same without you shit-heads. And ridiculous doesn't even begin to describe our podium finish. Not ranked to Regional Champs to 4th at nats in less than a month. I'm still not sure it actually happened.
While the offside comments weren't nearly as prevalent as NAIA XC Nats circa 2005, some quasi-memorable moments follow:
On the way to the gas station to get the night's beverages: "Hey, isn't that Jerry's van?" "No way, I think it is." "Holy shit, JT's in the gas station! Hide!"
After hiding successfully from our seemingly permanently tipsy assistant coach, our cover was almost blown when the Concordia Cal. coach walked in on me lugging 4 doz. packs up to the counter. Coach: "Congratulations on your race today, great job." Me: "Thanks..... oh, and if you see Brit..... you didn't see me."
Only a few comments worth repeating here:
"YOU NEVER LET THEM TOUCH!!" "Hey, (name withheld), where are your pants?" Anything that came out a twin's mouth after beer #3.
It was also funny to watch a certain brutal-cock freshman fall asleep under some benches at O'Hare this morning. And Wambui's pre-race dance was certainly a sight to be seen, hopefully some clips of that make it on to youtube.

And for the record, the best cover I've heard of a Cash song is Ring of Fire performed by Coldplay... that was amazing.... and they started the set off with this "Tonight, we're going to cover Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire, because he is the best artist ever to walk the earth, we miss you..." - so Bomba, both you, Coldplay, and LetsRun are all in agreeance... who'd a thunk it. By the way Cash didn't even write Ring of Fire. It was actually June Carter that wrote it, but Cash was the one that performed it.

I am so sick of reading shit about johnny cash on here. Stories from Nats are appreciated, beaks about UBC are always welcomed, and talk about a beer mile is ok too. Join a music forum and debate cash elsewhere..2 pages of useless banter about it is just unacceptable.

...not when it comes to johnny cash......he is bigger than useless posts, drunken shenanigans, NAIA nationals...and just about everything in the universe......in fact he is the universe.....besides Will started it.....

tover, get over it ya wally.
you're new to this. useful reading would be last year's thread.... which is 34ish (?) pages of useless banter. (gant and frenchie will correct me about page numbers i'm sure...)
hey bomba, next time you're getting tim tams, buy double and bring half to practice... just let me know the damage. oh and i didn't start it bomba, the goof who has the cash login in name did... i merely catalyzed an unnecessary page or so of johnny drama......
speaking of tim tams, prosser ran a 73m half on sunday.... off the couch. he better not do that at the first half, or i'll be quite embarrassed.

about 41-42 seconds into that video, when Gareth is saying "the Junior Chad Fraser" ... there is the image of a runner just on Chad's right shoulder that I swear is that of Ryan Weber

Uncanny resemblance, complete with head band. Nice take, Seth. I don't care what everyone else says, you're not dumb at all.

this year i will be doing distances that don't require doing set after set after set of 200s and 400s every workout week in and week out... so in other words some sort of 5k-ish-type-deal.

Post by Schnopps on Nov 21, 2007 11:31:06 GMT -5
hate to tell ya frenchie, but 200's and 400's are good for the 5k too and 10k for that matter

400 repeats.... can't fockin' wait. throw a few intervals over some sticks and 250 richmonders aimlessly walking around the track we got your average tues/thurs.
that 5 x 'mile' ... and by mile i mean 1720m... was really breaking my balls last night. it was a good thing the women's field hockey and soccer teams were practicing beside us or I would of had no motivation to get 'er done.

are UBC track workouts still going to be in richmond with the new track at 41st & Arbutus? it would save you guys 2 hours of commuting twice a week, someone should talk to marek.

i talked to mj and he didn't sound like he was switching up the location, at least not for the first month or two of the season while we're still on the grass loops. I haven't been to the new track yet, but apparently there aren't any of those aound there. hopefully we'll be on there at some point though, especially around exam time. that's when the extra hours spent commuting to and from practice instead of doing schoolwork really came back to haunt me last year.

...marty told me on oct that he was planning on doing most winter training at minoru....rationale was amount of injured people from being on the track too much over the last few yrs, so he wanted to stay on the grass as much as possible...

If we want to get serious here about intramural sports (which is completely retarded because intramurals are for rubberheads/math majors)...
UBC Men's Elite Dodgeball League - HKIN A-Team is on a four year undefeated streak... pretty big deal. (No Schnopps we won't play on your Vancouver CoRec team as the cannon's are only licensed for use once a week, and on UBC grounds only.)
Anyways, back to normal shit... like beer miles and intercollegiate athletics.
Things (on and off the message board) get interesting as Shane "Once a Regional Champ" Carlos is again thrown back within the UBC Mens Contingent and will face Dylan "I always come f*cking second" Gant in a heated battle in the unfamiliar battleground of Guelph.
This will bring the UBC Mens team back competitive strength for the upcoming outdoor season and all-so-important DUAL MEET.

well, some bad news and some good news.
The game got delayed due to extreme hangovers for both pippen and some guy on the other team. First we bumped it back to dinner time, but pippen had just woken up from a deep slumber and was pretty heavy into detox. Currently the match is penciled in for next sunday or sometime during the exam period.
The good news: I know it seems we've all been waiting an eternity, but my big toe nail finally fell off! the nail is currently on display in the kin lab and will soon be moved to the AQ art museum for full time viewing. i can't really tell what's going on on my big toe at the moment, it kinda has a couple of hard things that look like new nails, a big bloody spot, and then you can look down where the old nail used to be and see like a half inch back into my toe on top of the new nail. it's pretty tasty stuff.
anyways, hope all had a good weekend.

Word is that the course in Guelph already has a covering of snow. Hopefully the course is maintained a little better than Jericho was last year. In any case, this bodes well for ex-Champ Carlos, as we all know what he did in the conditions of 2006. So I therefore predict: Carlos cements his baller status with another top-20 finish; a solid race, but maybe not quite enough to get on the NACAC team.
I rip shit up..... for 8km. Then I remember there's still 2000m left, yell out "F*ck this shit", and jog in the rest of the way, taking solace in the knowledge that in only a few hours I'll be downing locally brewed Sleeman's by the pitcher.
Speaking of the after party, Kolstad will talk a mean game, then get only marginally drunk. Thats an even greater tradition than me finishing second.
Elmer, on the other hand, gets drunk at the banquet. Love it.
The Culley Express slams 2 Kokanee right before the gun, in preparation for the Beer Mile season. At the end of the race, he vomits on the winner.
Brockerville gets naked in front of somebody he's never met before. I'm not saying he's gonna get laid, just that he'll take all his clothes off. Then he'll rip a phone book in half.

Holy bloody shenanigans get over yoursleves! Whats up with shooting yourselves down even more. C'mon people why keep bringing up the not so infamous "EXCHAMP" Shane Carlos. That was 2 years ago! Even SFU hasnt been bringing up exchamp wambui from last year. UBC..you guys gotta let that one finally hit the road or you guys are in for another serious beating. And who decided to bring up dodge ball as being a sport.
Phoenix get a hold of yourself...you an't that good looking. no bodies going to invest their measely time in checking out your toe nail thats on display. Oh, and wait a hell of a lot longer till that comes ripe again.
Needless to say..this thread sucks people. wheres the banter?
UBC cheer up...hard times like this, can make or break you. ILLWILL bring your team back to the front lines.
Oh ya dgant...gotta love your weapon of choice "a pair of very fast spkes"! maybe that will keep your team solid and strong going into indoors.
You guys are awesome.....NOT!!!!!

As ridiculous as that post was, I actually agree with everything formula says, except for the parts about this thread sucking and us not being awesome.
So, do we care enough to try and figure out who this joker is? I for one am at a loss, I don't know anyone this inarticulate. Clearly they're from UBC.

oh you so funny history major dylan gant... just because most of our team balances budgets, calculates VO2 max's, or builds bridges in their classes while you guys take crime in society classes doesn't mean we're...that... illiterate.
he's probably just an ira thomson-type troll (bcbud circa 2006) hailing east of boundary... i say it's nothing to worry about.

Yeah, even I think my cracks regarding your writing skills are getting old. I won't mention it anymore. But I'm a psych major Will, and I'm detecting some hostility in your words. You sound angry; probably because your mother didn't hold you enough as a child. If you ever want to talk about it....

I thought that post was pretty funny, mostly because it was so unbelievably stupid, trite, and uncreative, and because it was such a huge change in tone from this goon's first post which was just irrelevant gibberish and some amusing but completely out of context youtube vids.
It's either a fake by some mischevious troll, in which case it's hilarious, or it's a sad attempt by some deluded fringe-dweller vainly trying to gain acceptance into this informal community of goofballs via brazen, foolhardy assertion... probably (and hopefully) the former.

SUP Dawgs...Thats what you think, captain cocky! Damn i love being a deluded finge-dweller NOT vainly tryin to gain acceptance on this thread. Dgant, you can forget your troubles with those Imperial slugs. Time for some bad beats! Frenchie, you can remain a clownish symbol that no one cares about. Shit, don't everyone thank me at once. Im the only sane person on here...damn sure about this being a community of goof balls. Things like this i refuse to tolerate...gibberish on a former not so good champ, bad hair cuts, brusied elbows and the need for some real good deworming. Illwill you arent so bad for being an early protoype. Does anyone know how good a toasted cream cheese bagel is...wow did i have one this morning and it was delicious.
