Ahmed our best finisher in 30th, maybe the conservative start was key, with a bit of a negative split there.

Jeff Scull - 56th
Curious...I thought the NCAA had a rule something to the effect of there being at an age limit at 23. I'm obviously wrong about this, given that Jeff is 24, but could someone please clarify?

oh and gtown, i'm not sure when jeff's birthday is, but usually they do eligibility as of dec.31st of the previous year, or jan 1st. not sure if that applies to ncaa, but i know that's quite common

I can't remember the specifics, but there is maximum age for when an athlete can start competing in D1 athletics. There are exceptions made for religious missions, military service, and, I believe, incarceration (strange, I know). In normal cases, athletes are granted 5 years from when they start school to complete their 4 years of eligibility, but a 6th year can be granted in cases of injury (although my understanding is this is very difficult to receive). I believe the age rules don't have an impact in D2 and D3 (at worst the rule are more lenient).

Ahmed our best finisher in 30th, maybe the conservative start was key, with a bit of a negative split there. I believe that qualifies him as an All-American (it's either top 25, 30, or 31 overall, and the same number of top USA natives).

Kendra Schaaf had a good run, is she running junior nationals? She looks to be registered to run Senoir Nationals not juniors

The announcers said before the mens' race started that top 40 would be All Americans.
Jenny Barringer had the look of someone who was dehydrated, seemed disoriented at times. Gutsy finish.

Awesome race by Mo. The top freshman finisher at 30th and an AA finish. Super job by Kendra Schaaf, 2nd place .

A lot of guys are injured/sick. Good for Mo considering he had a long track season.

Congratulations to all the Canadians involved --- great run for Kendra! As for Mo, what am I missing here? Assuming that 8:51 split for 3K is accurate, that is 29:30 pace --- what is conservative about that?

Well he did not run a 4:21 first mile ... like SC from Liberty ... so I guess it is all relative

How about congrats to Sheila Reid!!! 13th place. Maybe not her best race (strategically) this season, but she laid it on the line for her team - as did all the Villanova ladies - and it paid off with the team championship.

Sorry, conservative with respect to the race around him- meaning there were plenty of 8:4X who ended up behind him.

Kendra Schaaf finished SECOND at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. What a huge accomplishment! Villanova won the women's team championship and there are two Canadian women on this team. (Kaitlyn Tallman and Sheila Reid) We should be singing Kendra's praises at this result and her fantastic season as well as talking about Sheila Reid's huge role in Villanova's success. Florida State's women finished second with Canadian coaches Karen Harvey and volunteer coach Kevin Sullivan at the helm and still another Canadian women on the second place team. Instead we talk about the guys. How disappointing is that for Canadian women?
