First of all these are NOT Regional championships - They are Association Championships - there are NO Regional championships for XC. Three on this list are district meets NOT association meets (Wecssaa, Kassaa, Dictrict 10) - these feed into Association meets (qualify to).
IF you want to break them down by Region (as in Track) then the associations should be as follows - 3 per region. (* missing from the OP's list) West - CWOSSA, SWOSSA, & WOSSA (London Area)* Metro - TDSSAA, & TDCAA (Catholic)* & CISSA (Independent)* East - COSSAA, & EOSSAA * & NCSSAA (Ottawa)* Central - LOSSA, YRAA, GBSSAA South - ROPSSAA, GHAC, SOSSA (Niagara)* North - NEOSSA, & NWOSSAA (Thunder Bay)* & NOSSA (Sudbury)* * so missing 8 association meets.

Bystander, is there a website link that would help some of us non-Ontarians identify the location of the various Associations?

Thanx - much appreciated. Now, I have to find a good map of Ontario/counties... Anybody have a good one linked?

Philip Messina sets a midget boys course record at Trinity Yeah... 14:55 is unbelievable. Even though the course is short that's 28 seconds faster than he won Trinity with earlier this year and he was running alone this time. Also 23 seconds faster than what Eamon ran at Trinity last year.

34 runners in the midget girls race....some local qualifiers are bigger than this. Does CISAA get the same number of entries as other (larger) associations?

Yes they do - which is precisely why they should go to a Regional qualification system instead. There are some weak association meets (CISSA is one), which have perhaps only a few individuals/teams who would otherwise qualify for OFSAA. With a Regional format (N,E,S,W,C.M) the slower athletes would be more likely to be weeded out. The Metro Region (4T/6I - from TDSSAA, and 2T/3I- each from TDCAA and CISSA) doesn't reflect the quality of the competition. Other associations (LOSSA this year) get screwed because better teams/individuals don't qualify who might otherwise place well at a Regional meet because the depth of their association is much better. There would likely be a better balance of talent qualifying on the whole from Regionals for OFSAA.

If you were a hockey team or Alpine Ski team you would be happy to have CISSA as a seperate region. They have super strong teams and in $$ sports public schools cannot compete. They have to be consistent across the board.

The midget girls winning time was very solid though. An 11:03 on that course when you win by a minute is good running. As far as the qualification question, different regions can be loaded with talent at any given time while others can be weaker. When I was in high school in the early 80s guys like future national team member Bruce Deacon didn't get past East Regionals to OFSAA as a junior when they were capable of making the final if they had qualified. One or two or even ten years with a weaker association doesn't mean you should shift qualifying spots elsewhere.
