For a while I was beginning to think Woodfine didn't know how to lose anymore. Woodfine is coming back strong. He's winning OFSAA XC '09, then he'll probably win OFSAA nordic skiing, and just to drive the point he'll prabablly earn a gold or two at OFSAA track '10. I think pre-ofsaa was Tristan's first challenge in a highschool race in a long time and his competitive skills may have been rusted. He hasn't been 'racing' he's been front running for two years. Come OFSAA, the boy will race. He'll be back in 'game shape' and remember what its like to compete in a highschool competition. If anyone beats Tristan when the race counts, it will truly be an incredible feat. He doesn't lose races too often, so I don't expect him to lose another for quite some time... Woodfine FTW.
Ps. I know third a pre-ofsaa isn't really a 'down point' in one's life, but for Tristan's standards, I feel it may be. As well, no respect taken away from deGroot and Smith for beating the kid, congratulations, your one of the very few who will ever beat him in highschool

Your starting to sound like you have a crush on the guy.

All I am saying is that Matt Fouzie was a public school star in the distance events and I have heard he has been training pretty hard so I would have to say he may be throwing some preds off I'll give him top ten. Also don't ever count out Z'laast Allicock heard he logged some solid milage over the summer.

ok i must coment on the Pesce thing. I was able to see one of the races, and yes Pesce did win by far. BUT, that is only because of one little thing. What has happend to Andrew deGroot? As a choach, and a friend, i asked deGroot why he was doing soo poorly? Why dont you run with Pesce? Well it seems that deGroot is training extremely hard on wednesday's and it just so happens that the GBSSA races are on a thursday. this being the case, deGroot, is out for a jog at the races. even at a jog pace deGroot is still finishing 2nd, to Pesce. If you ask me? 2nd without trying is better then "ok" or Pesce for that matter. oh, may i add that he runs in training shoes and is often found talking to another runner. Oh Degroot, always fun when you talk about yourself in the first person. This is why i'll never understand you gbssa kids.. jogging at all the races... those looked like spikes you were wearing at the last race... just remember that actions speak louder than words, even on tnf hey "stevie" wats ur deal man, why dont u let ppl know who u r? u say that ur from "widsor" but ur at the gbssa races, cuz u saw degroot with spikes? who r u?

im pretty sure if you have winston churchill in the discussion for top junior team you'd have to have st.mary's kitchener either ahead or right with them. winston churchill may have won pre ofsaa but st.mary's beat them at octoberfest minus their 2nd runner who they just moved up from midget. they're my pick for gold but then again anything can happen at ofsaa

watch out for a lot of the runners coming out of cwossa particularly the d8/wcssaa runners. there's some great senior runners on the guys side including a strong cameron heights team. in junior there's also good runners with gavin shields, reid hayes, usama ikram and sam baxter. also look out for a midget named matt bannon from elmira and jamie phelan on the girls side. it's tough to predict for ofsaa because its so close to make it out of regionals but those who do should run quite well

Senior Boys Top 10 Individuals
1. Daryl Smith (gotta go with him for now, could still change, he's far from having the win locked) 2. Paul Janikowski (two time xc champ, he'll be right there ftw) 3. Andrew DeGroot (lots of talk of his current training, strong pre-ofssa result, still a threat to win) 4. Thomas DeVries (undefeated so far this season, this guy's got mad skillz) 5. Tristan Woodfine (he'll take the W next year, this year he'll fight for a medal) 6. Steve Hosier (real close between the rest of the top 10, could be annyone who pulls out a great race) 7. Xavier King (battles for a top 5, but falls just short) 8. Andrew Kowalsky (you know there team is sick when they put 2 in the top 10) 9. Eric Dillon (consistently at the top, could still move up some spots) 10. Jordan Collison (2nd to TDV at Oktoberfest, see how he does in the next couple weeks)
On the bubble: Jon Martin, Andrew Belanger, Chris Balestrini, Jay Bouchuk, Robbie Denault, Jeff Archer, Evan Esselink, Jeremie Bourget, Mackay Wilson

There's no way he's repeating something around his 3k pb in workouts and running 5 miles in sub 30 minute 10km pace for a tempo.

Cameron Heights senior boys look strong enough to possibly medal at OFSAA while a number of individuals look to make an impact at the Big Show. Jamie Phelan (Midget girls), Taylor Martin (Junior Girls - 3rd at Pre-OFSAA), Gavin Shields (Junior Boys - 2nd at Pre-OFSAA) plus Jon Martin and Andrew Belanger (Senior Boys) can all make top 10's and some of them will medal for sure (Phelan and Shields).

No one has mentioned David meloche yet, The third runner of Massey. I don't know the guy too well but he did come in 15th last year right behind Sprague and kowalsky. I know he didn't place too well at pre-ofsaa but hey who didn't have a bad race that day? I'm going to throw him into the top ten this year. You heard it here first.
