Okay, we are up and on-line. All fixtures for our series have been updated at:
www-athrec.mcmaster.ca/athletics/teams/crosscountry/summertrack.htm
At this time, we would like to make a FIRST CALL for entries for the Marauder Invitational sections on Tuesday, May 25th. (Note that all other events on that evening are open twilight events).
Athletes wishing to compete in the Invitational sections for men should have legitimate seed times at 15:09 or faster, and for women, 18:19 or faster.
Please email Brad Young at youngb2@mcmaster.ca with your seed time and the following supporting information (e.g.):
Matt McInnes (Toronto, Ontario) seed time 14:29
University Career: Queen’s University (’93-’97), Toronto (’97-’01); OUA Ontario University XC Bronze ’99; CIAU First team All-Canadian XC ’99; member of Team Canada FISU World University XC Championships ’00.
Highlights: 3000m 8:27 (McMaster, ’01); 5000m 14:29.36 (Victoria, ’00); 10km road 30:17 (Montreal, ’00), 10,000m 29:32.76 (Stanford, ’03). We encourage athletes to include in their highlights evidence to legitimize their seed time. (Thanks in advance for the supporting info - it makes it easier for us to market the races to local media outlets)
Meet directors will approve the seed times and then post the athlete's name and seed time on tnfnorth.com and trackie.ca. Any inquiries can be directed to youngb2@mcmaster.ca.
Best regards,
Brad Young

Will the Twilight series entertain any shorter events this year, like previous years, or are they all being dropped? Mostly interested in the 400 and the 4 hurdles

The Hamilton Twilight Distance Series at McMaster will not be entertaining any events shorter than 800m. In previous years this would have been disconcerting to sprinters and those racing the 400s. However, there is quite an offering of meets in Ontario this year and individuals in that position should certainly have plenty of opportunities to run and run fast. Good luck to you.
In past years we have been on occasion a fixture on the Great Lakes Series and as such we offered a greater variety of events. However, our mandate for our Twilight Series at McMaster is to provide the best damn distance twilight series in Southern Ontario on the fastest track in this province under the lights. That is what we are focusing on again this summer starting May 25th.
The advantage of an exclusive distance focus (and less events) is that we can start our races a little bit later than in previous years. This gives the people coming from out of town and the people toughing it on on the QEW more time to get here.
Best regards,
Brad Young
PS - one other note, for those looking to come from out of town and looking for chaeper accomodations - it appears Mac Housing is offering rooms in one of the new residences at reasonable nightly rates during the summer. If anyone is interested in that, drop me an email...

Exciting news. After all the rumours about the McMaster outdoor track going to scrap heap, it's staying put and being resurfaced in the near future. McMaster will be maintaining the natural grass infield as well. And......a new indoor track at McMaster, flat 200m, (projected) opening Oct 2005. www.mcmastersportsplex.ca/

We have mined the results from the past nine years of the Hamilton Twilight Series at McMaster and have come up with two lists: The All-time Rankings 1996-2003 (M & W) The Top 3 Annual Rankings 1996-2003 (M & W) across all Events Click: www-athrec.mcmaster.ca/athletics/teams/crosscountry/summertrack.htmThe lists read as a who's who of Ontario track and field (and in some cases beyond). Many good athletes have used the McMaster track as a "springboard" to set themselves on their way to performances at the National and International level. We hope the same holds true this summer, starting with the Marauder Invitational 5000m (M & W) on Tuesday May 25th and our series of distance twilight meets! Brad Young

The 5k on May 25th is starting to gain a little momentum. I think this will be a good chance for many people to run quick.

Just FYI...The Hamilton Twilight Meet-5K will have the Hanson Brooks Running Team involved. They are hoping to run 13:40ish. We hope others will join in and make this a great meet. They have not confirmed their entries with Brad Young, but Kevin contacted me this morning and indicated they will be coming. Hopefully, we can get a fantastic field. On another note, they have stated that they are more than interested in racing June 23rd, 10k in Hamilton. We are just waiting for track confirmation from Brad Young. The Hansons indicated they will be there in large numbers and hoping to assemble a field to run 28:30 pace. All interested can contact me at Calvinstpls@aol.com. I will post here once Brad has confirmed Hamilton Twilight Series' involvement in yet, another great grassroots movement in Ontario for the sport of track and field. Cal

Hi everyone. I have been away on vacation for the past week, but am now beginning to process and post entries for the Marauder Invite 5000m (M and W):
Men:
Reid Coolsaet (Speed River) 13:53.59 Calvin Staples (Tri-City) 14:30 Robert Jewer (Speed River) 14:40 John Bodirlau (University of Windsor) 14:46 Mike Woods 14:50 Zeljko Sabol (Tri-City) 14:50 Kevin Beatty (Tri-City) 14:55 Steve Koziarksi (University of Guelph) 15:09 Jeremy Helf (Campbell University) 15:09
Stay tuned for more entries...
Admittedly, there is little interest from the women at this point which is disappointing. I will continue to process entries as I make my way through my inbox this morning. Please send you entries along with bio info in the requested format (indicated in a previous thread above). It helps me process the info faster. Also, if you are thinking of coming, can you get your info to me as soon as possible so that I am not inundated in the last few days leading up to the race...greatly appreciated!

What happened in the 5000?
It looks as though McKenzie won easily.
I thought Reid Coolsaet would provide a challenge, but it wasn't even close. Was Reid injured? If anyone has specifics on the race, that would be great.
I just can't get over how McKenzie was able to dust the field like that.
