mckenzie has been racing a lot already this year. hes run 3:43 a few times, ran a 1:49(?), and had already run a 13:57. he's much sharper than reid. hes only run a 15 adn a steeple, in the same meet.

McKenzie looked dominante at Mac, at one point about 1500 in or so it looked like he might fall off and then by 2.5 k he was in total control. It will be interesting to see what he does this season, in the right race he should be able to go 13:30, the 1500 he might get down to 3:37, good to see him giving a few 5ks a go as by 2008, I think this will likely be his main event, in fact in 2008 Canada could have quite a good crop of 13:10 to 13:30 guys, with Morrison, Hayden, McKenzie, Benninger, Bairu, Coolsaet, Johnson, etc. (although the last 3 will likely be 10k guys by then) and maybe the possibility of Sully taking a serious run at a 5k for the next Olympiad?

I thought Reid Coolsaet would provide a challenge, but it wasn't even close. Was Reid injured? If anyone has specifics on the race, that would be great. is he injured? ha. didn't reid run way faster than he did at this meet last year when he went on to the best season of his life? i don't think there is anything to worry about, a very positive way for him to open his season. don't compare him to ryan, ryan had a great race, and would have beat damn near anyone in the country save maybe 3 or so people. what was your finish time in the race observer?

Interested Observer,
I don't have a problem with people pointing out my times or how much I got beat, its clear in the results for everyone to see. I also don't have a problem with anonymous posters having a little fun. But, you're obviously trying to piss me off. Congratulations, you must be very proud of yourself.

Chris Moulton: thanks for the info...
Coldneck: nobody is attacking anyone's times... Just asking the tough questions... I saw the results from Hamilton and quite honestly, I was surprised at how much faster McKenzie was then the rest of the field. That's all...
Going into that race, I had heard a lot of rumblings that Speed River was running fast, however none of them challenged in that race. I was just curious why.
I apologize if your feelings were hurt.
I.O.

I was actually quite surprised with the times from Hamilton! It is tough getting a good long distance race on the track so early in the season. I guarantee you that in 1 month at the trials a lot of those guys will be running 10-20 seconds faster once they peak properly. Also please write down your address if you think Speed River is doing a bad job. I will send you a Runner's World subscription since you obviousely must not know much about racing. Any of you boys planning another big race in Hamilton this season (or not because of the trials?). If so I would love to come watch. To the boys I know personally from SR... I will donate 1 beer for every second you PR this year in the 5km. Ofcourse it will be low-carb beer! And Coldneck stop trying to kill Gophers.... ! Gophers are the coolest animals in the world... especially if they are golden!
