First of all, I'm not trying to sound like a jerk here. I was just curious with what happened with Angus Macauley this season. I remember he was running pretty quick during the summer (1:53 - 800, 3:58? - 1500). It doesn't look like he's running to his capabilities right now. Has he been injured? Is he getting used to a new training regimen? Is school a factor?

It's the ladies dude. Guelph is two thirds girls so our young stud barely gets a moments rest. I hang out at his place all the time and his phone is ringing off the hook with girls who want a moment of this stud's time while scantily clad women are practically breaking down his door to get a piece of him. So as you can see poor angus just doesn't stand a chance.

I can attest to Brooksy's proclamation about Gus's way with the ladies. This stallion has a hard time getting proper rest because he's so busy charming the ladies with his charismatic personality and larger than average medula oblongata. But rest assured folks Angus still has the wheels and is putting the work in that will get him to the next level with his running. Future CIS gold medallist on the track. Heck of a guy!

Besides keeping track of his many ladies, I may offer a more in depth response. First year is often a transition phase although Angus stayed with the same coach, there are massive lifestyle changes that all first year students undergo, I know many people who feel if you can equal your high school pbs indoors you are doing outstanding. Angus has run 2:31 this indoors, on virtually any other school with a few exceptions (notably Windsor and Victoria) in the country he would be a 3rd or 4th runner on a 4 x 800 at CIS, he has also had some injury difficulties which have curtailed his training.
Look at a kid like Matt Scobie last year he ran 2:32 and 4:05 indoors by the outdoor season he was running 3:52 and he is now one of the top ranked 1000 guys in the CIS or Brandon Young his freshman year he ran 8:35 which is a good time but pretty close to his high school PB by his second year he was running 8:21. Even a guy like Steve Armitage here at Guelph freshman year he wasn't even running and ran 1:24 at the end of the season. By his second year he was first guy out of CIS in the 600 and this year he has run 1:21.2.
Every team has examples like these, in my opinion a rookie who takes substantial leaps forward in their first year is more of the exception than the rule. I think we will see great things from Macaulay, Brooksy, Hudson in addition to the success we saw of rookies in the fall of Coates, AP, Jonesy, Dylan Macinnis at St FX and Koziarski. The future is bright for the CIS.

Ronald,
also, don't compare outdoor to indoor times. Angus's results this indoor season look pretty good to me, not even taking into account what Chris told us.
Another rookie to watch is Rich Lehman (you're name's on TnF buddy!)... he's gone 1:55 (albeit on a 309m track).

Speaking of studs.....a shout goes out to the McGill boys.....especially Jeff McCabe after popping a 2:29 a few weeks ago.....
....and about Angus, I dont think there is anything to worry about. He's a great runner and will be medalling in the 1000m within two years.
Catton likes men (just joking Catts....dont be mad at me),

I didn't mean any disrespect ... I know Angus is one hell of a runner ... and I just thought he didn't run to his capabilities this year. There is no doubt in my mind that he will be one of the top runners in the CIS in another couple years

Where's the censorship now, Moulton? MoCash, you'll get yours. Good luck in NYC this weekend.
