here is your team (assuming they confirm their spots):
4km men They're taking 6...... Top 5 indoor 3km guys plus Joel...figure it out on your own
12km men
1) Booth 2) Deere 3) Murphy 4) Johnston 5) Osadiuk ...and at 6....Joel again....My question is whether he actually plans on finishing the race, or if this for IAAF funding (ie money AC gets back from IAAF for sending full teams)
No idea on the women.....

Joel again....My question is whether he actually plans on finishing the race, or if this for IAAF funding (ie money AC gets back from IAAF for sending full teams) Why would Athletics Canada add someone on the long course team simply to send a full team? It's not costing them anything since the team is self-funded. The only answer I can think of is that they didn't want to go any farther back in the national's results (18th place is the last guy).

I heard Mondor is doubling. Right... ""The big news is that I will be doubling at World Cross," said Mondor in an e-mail message to RRW. "Hard weekend, but focus is 100% on the 8-K. Still, you know that I always give my best for any races I do.""

I feel like an idiot replying to my roomates post but other people might be interested... IAAF gives money to countries at world cross that have a certain number of finishers who have reached certain track standards. They're something like 14:30 5k, 8:30 3k etc. I'm sure someone else can elaborate on my vague description of that rule. Basically what I'm saying is..CATTS IS A PECKER

.....apparently the funding for WXC has changed once again. I am not sure of the specifics, but it sounds like it is back to sending whole teams or sending so many people, and not time based. Hence sending someone like Joel (not saying he is or isn't going to run the 12km), could actually make it cheaper for AC as they'll already have joel there and they'll get more $$$$ for the 12km (ie if it's based upon 6 guys finishing then they'll get the 1000 bucks in whole for joel and won't have to give any back to a self funded athlete)...purely theoretical on my part, but I think ti is pretty close....
