I just came across this on the Sporting Canada Website... I'm sure all of you Lancers out there are feeling pretty bad right now. I know it probably doesn't mean much, but I hope that everyone can recover from this terrible tragedy... www.universitysport.ca/e/story_detail.cfm?id=1960

All I can say is that it hurts to lose a teammate and friend. It seems to me that bad things always happen to the best of people. She will be missed. We will get through this though, it's what she would have wanted us to do.

I have only met Heather once at the CIS X-C after party but when I did meet her she told me she wanted to be lawyer. She was one of the friendliest and nicest people I met that evening. My heart and prayers go out to her family and the entire Lancer organization during this time. God Bless

Thanks to everyone across the country for your outpouring of support. This is a difficult time for us as Lancers and we really appreciate everything people have been doing for us.
For those of you coming to the team Challenge this weekend, there will be something set up to Honour Swifty (Heather Swift) along with a moment of silence. She was a great person, and a role model to me. Please don't ever be afraid to let your teammates know how you feel about them, it just might make their day.
In closing, I want to say I am just amazed at how classy you track and field athletes/coaches have been over the last few days in supporting us. Thanks so much, it has meant a great deal.
