US Marathon Trials Results 1 Alan Culpepper 32 Lafayette CO 2:11:41.15 2 Meb Keflezighi 29 San Diego CA 2:11:46.55 3 Daniel Browne 29 Beaverton OR 2:12:01.85 4 Trent Briney 26 Rochester Hills MI 2:12:34.75 5 Clint Verran 29 Rochester Hills MI 2:14:36.75 6 Scott Larson 35 Superior CO 2:15:02.65 7 Josh Cox 29 Murrieta CA 2:15:17.50 8 Eddy Hellebuyck 43 Albuquerque NM 2:15:35.05 9 Peter Gilmore 27 Menlo Park CA 2:15:43.55 10 Jason Lehmkuhle 27 St. Paul MN 2:16:26.40
The real star is Trent Briney only 26 years old, the guy ran 2:12 and these are his PBs before today, 3:57.00 (2001) 8:13.26 (2002) 14:11.73 (2002) 29:13.75 (2001) 48:57 (2003) 1:06:00 (2003) 2:21:10 (2003).
The Hansons program had an outstanding day with Briney 4th, Verran 5th and Brian Sell who lead by a minute a 20 miles placing 14th. It is unfourtnate Canada doesn't have a marathon trials even just to get a bunch of canucks together and running fast times, as I know a fair number of guys who have similar PBs to Briney and maybe if we got all the top guys together we could have one hell of a race.

I heard Sell threw in a 9 min mile, though i can't figure out where. His last 4.2 was 26:26, or 6:15 pace. He bonked hard, but you have to admire him for going for it. He's one of the toughest racers I know.

Sell ran tough that is for sure. I think his inexperience got the best of him. He will do very well over this distance in the future. The fast 2nd half must have wiped out all the pretenders. Meb and Culpepper must have closed extremely fast as Browne had ~10sec with 1 mile to go.

The real star is Trent Briney Agreed. I wonder what kind of work he was doing.
