Mighty impressive kick from Mr. Rae from 300m out to win by 8-10 meters. Basically ties his pb from OFSAA last year. Wonder what is possible for him by the end of the season ...

www.flotrack.org/videos/coverage/view_video/236734/326641there is jeremy's heat for anyone who is lookin. He has gotta be one of the most exciting young runners to watch. Specifically thinking of his Penn Relays race last year. I think he's showin multiple times that he can take a race out from the front, or do what he did here and sneak up from behind with an impressive kick. Very exciting race.

Wykes did not have a gooder. He was looking to rewrite his 28:58 PB from last year (or something like that) at around 28:15 or so

Well exciting it was ... his talent and grit saw him through in this heat where he was just about all over the place. He was bumped and pushed, dropped off the back, boxed on the inside, then out again into lane 3. To his credit he did not let that get to him ... now in a more talented field that just won't work but these are the races where he is learning to race. Better placement, strategy and 3:40 is very realistic I think (depending on injury/training).

is it possible it was a planned race strategy to sit in the back of the pack and see what legs he had at the bell? it didnt look like he made any attempt to move up at any point before the bell. amazingly, he still looked almost comfortable crossing the line

Right. I didn't have the same take as oldbones. He actually reminded me of Sully. Looked like he knew what he was doing the whole time.

I deleted from my previous post that his coach may have told him to hold back and see what was is the tank. Early season you are looking to build confidence (along with form, etc.) ... Mr.Rae likes leading when confident in his ability ... he has shown no hesitation to lead/create pace ... as you can see after lap 1 he was bringing up the rear but moved quite easily when needed ... so being all over the place might of been by choice to some degree.

I'll sure he'll write about it in his blog this week, if he hasn't already.
