"Athletes and officials from China, Sri Lanka and Nepal have been told by Citizenship and Immigration Canada that they won’t be allowed to enter Canada because there’s a risk they may not return home afterwards. Tajikistan’s team has been denied visas because they competed in the Asian Athletics Championships, an IAAF-sanctioned event in Iran. Five other countries are still waiting to hear." www.torontosun.com/sports/othersports/2010/04/02/13449491.html

an absolute embarrassment for Canadian. After this, we will be lucky to host anything again... and frankly unless this stupid policy changes we shouldn't be allowed.

This is bad bad politics. It shows that Sport Canada/CIS/AC have little to no political capital. Immigration does not need to be so hard on this. Bad bad bad.

Pretty bad in my opinion. Sports and politics just don't mix. Nothing seems to change.

Perhaps if each of us contact our local MP, it might make a difference. Will the same thing happen at World Juniors?
