Copps Indoor Meet

Congrats to Bruce Woods and his crew for putting on another great meet at Copps Coliseum yesterday. I love this meet for its unique venue and the way they treat the athletes so well with nice medals as well as t shirts for the winners and of course the full race commentary for most races over the loudspeaker system.

Watch out for this grade 9 from Port Hope, Jeremy Coughler. He won the MB 1500 at 1pm just missing Kyle Milks meet record then came back a couple of hours later to get silver in the 3000m (4:22, 9:22)

Filling in some of coachc's question marks- Chelsea Mackinnon and Meg Inman of Westdale were 2nd and third in the SG 600m.

JB 1500m Brayden Seneca ND Welland 1st- 4:20ish, Adam Rowles Highland- 4:22ish, Rui Xu Westdale

MB 1500m- Liam Smith Highland 3rd

JG 1500m- Julia Kitevski- Birchmount 1st, Karen Thompson Highland, 2nd

SB 4 x 400m- Highland 1st, Lieberman 2nd, TISS 3rd

SG 4 x400m- Westdale, Birchmount, Highland. The Westdale team went 4:15ish which is quite fast for indoors early in the season.

For those who have never been to the meet at Copps here are a few videos of races held Friday. It really is a different type of venue and track then most of you high schoolers are used to. I really like the announcer. I think Ron Hungerford , previous FAMOUS coach from TISS who the Hungerford games at TISS are named after , is the announcer. Someone can correct me on that if I'm wrong.
