Runner on our team has been suffering from hip injury for some time. Now diagnosed as hip dysplasia. Anyone know much about this condition ? Prognosis, treatments etc ? Any advice/info appreciated.

I would go see a physiotherapist. They can help with adjustments, give exercises, etc. Its can get pricey but will be worth every penny in the long run.

My mother had it . . . it got to the point very quickly of where she needed two new hips. Hopefully your teammate fairs better.

Anyone here know what happened to Skuj? His recent disappearance is even weirder than his avatar.

I'm sure some one will correct - add to what i write and i welcome it seeing as what i've got off the top of my head is pretty superficial, but hip dysplasia basically has to do with the head of the femur doesn't fit appropriately into the socket of the hip (acetabulum). it's a ball and socket joint and is lined with a smooth cartilage. when things don't fit properly, forces wear down the protective cartilage and you get bone against bone. the worse it gets the more "grinding" you get and often you get limited mobility and pain. I think in early forms physio and chiro can align and strengthen the joint to keep things in good functional order.
In dogs like mentioned above they monitor weight and activity of the animal to keep the animal healthy, but not injured. life expectancy is decreased, and most certified breeders won't breed an animal with the affliction because it is hightly inheritable. People who want to run are much different, and the more information you can get the better you'll be able to treat, and recover from the pains. There's some interesting synvisc injections you can get to help replace the worn away cushoning tissue. That might be more of a last resort effort. i think x-rays pick up pretty clearly the progression of the ailment.
Best of luck!
