Jim Denison has been hired by the University Alberta and Athletics Canada to lead the Canadian Athletics Coaching Centre. A major change from Kevin Tyler and Derek Evely, Denison has a more academic background, rather than a coaching background. It's an interesting choice to hire Denison, an American as there were strong Canadian candidates up for the job. His background seems to be in coaching education. If we get more coaches, we get more athletes. More athletes means more exposure to the sport. More exposure means more money.
Ok, reality check. Keeping coaches coaching in Canada would be a nice first step.
