I know that there is another thread on OFSAA preds but it is dominated by discussions on the boys. I would like to focus on the girls side. I don't really have a list of predictions right now but notice that there are some up and coming girls who may really break through this season. In addition, there seems to be some strong girls in the north who are not well known given the focus on the south. Regards.

I think we're going to see a fairly interesting MG 3000m with Natalia Hawthorn & Jamie Phelan. & same with the 1500m but I also think you'll see Jennifer Jackson in the mix for that one (2nd pre-ofsaa, didn't do to well at ofsaa)

I can't see the MG record of 4:36.30 for 1500m standing after this year, with Jaimie and Natalia both running within five seconds of that last year.
I'd say Natalia and Jaimie could even take a stab at the 3000m record of 9:44.

I highly doubt that 9:44 will go down, victoria hanna won the senior girls 3km last year in just under 10 minutes

Phelan did run 10:04 at youth nats in the summer, but that is still a big twenty seconds so who knows.

They were 13th and 14th at national jr. xc which is amazing for 1995 babies. The girl who was 3rd at OFSAA xc (can't remember her name but she is from Westdale in Hamilton) looked very strong but couldn't kick with the two leaders but should be a strong contender for a medal in track. It is often hard to figure out the crossover since many xc runners that rely on strength may not be able to get away as easily on the track and with the rampant sickness throughout the province leading up to OFSAA xc you never know which midgets will be bursting onto the scene in track. There may be a few top contenders that don't have any track times yet since they don't run in clubs. The only real easy predictions to make are the first two.

It is amazing that in the other OFSAA track predictions thread that focuses on boys, there are 20 pages of discussion - - for the girls, there is less than a full page. Come on, aren't there folks interested in girls track?

The girls that post and read here obviously are smart enough not to constantly feed the fire that motivates their competition and are probably just training hard so that their results speak volumes in June

it will be interesting to see which v-lappers return for track... No preds until then. It will also be interesting to see whether Jamie Phelan will be faster than all the senior girls...

I highly doubt that 9:44 will go down, victoria hanna won the senior girls 3km last year in just under 10 minutes Big Wheels, your loving this thread eh, right up your alley... oh, and your "high doubt" is founded upon a comparison to a completely different race, in a different age group with different competition and different caliber... just for kicks here's an example: Last year I highly doubted Rob Denault would win the junior boys 1500m in 3:55 to break the record..because the previous year the SENIOR boys only won it in that time or tenths of a second off of it.

Are you suggesting that Kenenisa himself is the one behind those harsh, revealing words?

Are you suggesting that Kenenisa himself is the one behind those harsh, revealing words? ...I really denault dunno whats going on here... But back to the topic of interest: I predict there will first be a change in OFSAA rules regarding number of individual events per person..then I predict Natalia for a total of 6 golds short only to Lance Armstrong and Michael Phelps.
