From another thread:
SI-now you gotta post those 1983 & 1984 provincial and national mary lists.
1983 to come-these are 1984. I have to type into an excel file, scan it as a jpeg file and then upload to tinypic unless someone knows how to post an excel file and make the columns look right. Deleted file-see schester's post below. tinypic.com/r/2isfwav/6Couple of comments: 1. Don't think Steacy's YOB is right but Moore's certainly is. 2. Maybe ronb can tell us why Howard would have run the trials one week after running another one-he must have thought he had no hope of being in the top 3? 3. Englehutt was taking a serious shot at making the Olympic team that year but came up one spot short.

If you want, e-mail it to me and I'll upload to my website and we can just link there? I was never able to figure out how to post tables here either.

Will do-thanks. I see I made at least one mistake typing it in. Cook's time should be 2:21:37.

How did you do that? The third last entry should be fixed in your file(Audet in twice) and the 21st time should be 2:21:37.

Nice job, guys ! Wow, a lot of those names bring back memories. Unfortunately, SI, I can't recall why Tom Howard ran Vancouver and then Ottawa a week later. I think he was working with both Jack Taunton and Doug Clement at that time, so perhaps they could shed some light on that issue. Regardless of the rationale, that is still quite a feat, running a 2:18 with 6 days recovery from a 2:17.

Still working on. Down to 31. I also dug up 1985 which aren't as deep and will put those up too.

SI, any chance you have the marathon ranking list available from 1982. I believe this showed a very good group of guy below 2:15.

I would have it but it is very inaccessible. I know someone who may have it more readily available.

I believe this showed a very good group of guys below 2:15. I have some data. Top three were fairly comparable to 83 and the depth was about the same. Will post eventually.

That is what the rankings I am working with say. Are they in error? There are a few other errors. They have the Montreal marathon in at October 20th which makes no sense because that was a Thursday. It was actually September 25. I am getting that from here: www.arrs.net/It is a great site for statistics and other information.

Thanks for the marathon rankings from 84. It was good to see the postings there. There was a lot of depth at that time. A lot of good runners and really competitive fields.
Cheers

The marathon depth back in the early 1980s was incredible. I ran the 1983 Boston Marathon in 2:30:xx and did not finish in the top 300!!!
