If Tristan runs track this year. But should be a fairly stacked sr. boys 3000m with some of the 5th years. But, agreed with Grant, have to watch some indoor races first.

why would Tristan not run?

If he wouldn't run I assume it would be because of triathlon.
But anyone for the Eamon three-peat again?

Eamon will most likely 3-peat. I think his strongest event is the 1500 followed by the 3000, then the 800. If anyone challenges him, it will be Gavin Shields in the 3k and/or Nunes de Souza or Master to challenge him in the 800. Its probably a safe bet to say hes got the 1500, though.

i like rob denault for the 1500. he's got a nice, natural quickness and a gorgeous stride. and what was it he ran as a jb last year, 3 53? thats impressive.
tristan for the 3k is an obvious choice. seeing as he ran an uncontested 8:27 at east regionals as a jb last year, i think the real fun will be seeing what kind of time he can run

if he does decide to run, anyone think he will come close to the ofsaa record of 8:00.20?

he's capable. breaking 8 in gr.11 would be absolutely nuts though, that's extremely fast

this year I think he will be capable of coming close to 8:20 but if he can go lower then that then he is just phenomenal

|
|
Post by lukesteer93 on Nov 16, 2009 19:55:14 GMT -5
he'll go faster than 8:20 guaranteed. 8:00 may be a bit of a stretch, but i have very few doubts concerning tristan. and grant, running track and field past gr.11 may not be a part of tristans plans, i'm not completely sure/

he's capable. breaking 8 in gr.11 would be absolutely nuts though, that's extremely fast Greg Anderson ran 8:24 or 8:25 in gr. 11 (he was 2nd at OFSAA to my brother in JB that year) 2 years prior to his 8 flat. Tristan ran this time solo at Regionals last year but 8 flat is amazingly fast (that is why the record hasn't even been approached for 20+ years) so give the youngster a few more seasons before you predict 8 flat

There's plenty of time for the swine flu to kill off the top contenders yet.

Matt Druken top 3 in JR boys 3000m. Last year as a midget he just missed OFSAA. But later in the summer ran at Youth Nationals, came 3rd & got his time down to 9:18 & has had an awesome cross season. so Matt Druken top 3 OFSAA 3000m. Heard here first! (:

Ryan Sleiman is a little kid, if this kid grows over the winter I would expect times surreal to what he is capable of now. Ben Flannagan on the other hand outkicked a 4:11/2:00 guy at ofsaa cross country. Not only 1, but two will likely go sub 2 as midgets. Messina has run a 4:20 and a 9:33, so expect a solid sub 4:10 . As for these two 'little' guys , don't be suprised to see a sub 8:50 this summer, after all - Sleiman ran 11 seconds faster than Jp did on the malden course by himself, JP had Daryl breathing down his back when he set the record.
