Uta Pippig is the first woman to win the Boston Marathon three consecutive times (1994-1996). She also won the Berlin Marathon three times (1990, 1992 and 1995), the New York City Marathon once (1993), and she represented Germany in the 1992 and 1996 Olympics. Her best times include 15:03 for 5,000 meters, 31:21 for 10,000 meters, 1:07:58 for the half marathon and 2:21:45 for the marathon. Uta and I chatted on the phone for almost two hours and discussed her major marathon victories, her training and development as a top runner and her background growing up as a child behind the 'Iron Curtain' in East Germany along with many other topics. She also clued us in on 'Inside Stuff' such as her running heroes, favorite books and most embarrassing moments. The entire interview is now on www.garycohenrunning.com . Click "Interviews' and Uta's picture. Enjoy!!! If anyone has a line on Jerome Drayton for a future interview for my site, please let me know. Thanks!
