so seen as OFSAA was kind of bizarre, does anyone think that OTFA's will be different?

well all of the people who choked or didn't run at ofsaa will be back for another try so I guess it will be interesting to see who wins each age group if all of the top contenders are healthy

Wildlife issues aside, can anyone offer any insights on the course itself? It looks like it might be very hilly. Or, that just an Garmin-created illusion?

Ronb.. I don't think there are any moose in that area.. prob a bit more up north.. but ya never know, cuz who would have thought a deer would come out of nowhere in Toronto lol... oldster. the first part of the course is fairly flat, but once you get further out into the trail/bush part of the course it starts to get fairly hilly.

Thanks. And what is the surface like (grass?, dirt?, gravel?, mix?), and how well does it drain?

Here is a link to several videos detailing different parts of the course. Narration is quite good as you can then label your appropriate course map accordingly. www.trackdatabase.com/AOXC/I've been told it should play out as a slower course. As rovertrunner explained the first part of the course is flat, but it was explained to me that the opening grass loop is fairly bumping so you may not go as fast as you might think. If you refer to the course maps the hills begin shortly after you make the right turn into the forest at point E. Once in the forest there is a lot of up and down; some with gradual undulations or gentle slopes, but some hills are supposed to be quite challenging (like from point J as you leave the forest).

Oldster. The surafce for the most part is grass.. theres a couple spots where you are crossing a road.. & some of the trail part seems to be like grave/dirt.

This is great. Thanks. Looks to me like a lot of the back sections are on gravel/rock. Looks like a short-spike course, but correct me if I'm wrong.

The trails are real cross country trails. No gravel/rock. The only part there is gravel is to cross the road (30m) but there should be mats for that. It is a very challenging course, and if it rains before hand it will be even tougher. Definitely caters to the grinders over the track specialists. For those who have watched "Without Limits" it's like the trails they run on during Pre's recruiting trip.

WOW what a course. I have ran and skied these trails a bit, and H-M looks A LOT easier than it is...then C-D will feel hard opening, but then closing on it as well! That will bring on a different kind of hurt for sure...and then they throw in the north hill!!! When the golf cart can't make the climb you know it's a good course...I think.
Also H-E? Not in the videos I don't think..Is it a flat section?
In conclusion: wow. what a course.
