Krista has been having a great year ...and having Nicole Stevenson as her coach has been helping quite alot ! ....I wouldn't be surprised if she runs 2:40 -2:42 in her next marathon .....

There have been measurement issues in the past with this race. Have they been sorted out?
Local paper reports that Currie has been placed in the selection pool for the Brooks Marathon Project.

I heard something different cerruty, my parents were on the course and they said Reid was battling it out for a top ten finish just past 11k when Kipsang and Van Drop through in a series of surges that broke him. The wheels fell off at this point and despite a strong testosterone rush with 250 to go, he couldn't hold off a fast closing MacNamara. Afterwards Reid commented that he was disappointed in the performance but was even more disappointed in the fact that the event organizers (or more likely tnfnorth posters) couldn't spell the word "road".

nice one moults
and SI,love the local paper coverage... in 1984, a 2:25 mary (however well run) created a buzz? wouldn't that have ranked you 20th or so provincially then?

I was talking to Currie yesterday and he said nothing to me about the brooks marathon project,( As i beleive you have to run pretty fast sub 1:10 to be even considered.) It's good to see Currie getting back into things once again. I don't think he's thinking about the project or hasnt even be contacted by them as he works full time back home, from what i understand he told me he's just starting to get back into training hard again with his old coach from high school.

I had actually never counted the provincial types ahead of me until just now-17th(33rd in country)-the year before with a slightly slower time was 13th in the province but also 33rd in the country. Someone just told me on a run at lunch that they closed one lane down of the Red Hill Expressway for several hours for a total of just over 1700 finishers in the half and the marathon. The Toronto types that were whining a few weeks ago about road closures should take note.

Yes they had a road closure on the Red hill. I ran the half yesterday. THe course was a great, first 5km flat then you run 4.5km on the red hill, then the rest is flat and along the lake on the trails. Was alittle bit windy at some points but over all a good course.
I would think that it would be right for the measurement since it is a boston quailfier.

Well i was talking to currie tonight and he has no idea about the selection pool. He said that the local paper didnt even interview him that they just found the results and put them in.
I do know that when the project started the local paper did an article on Mark Steeds as he made standard of which was 72 so they may of went by that info and just assummed.
SI* nice results in 2000! sold time

That isn't how that part of the paper works. Someone who knows Currie would have submitted that information. If it is wrong, he should take it up with them. SI* nice results in 2000! sold time No-that was kitest. Mine will take a bit of work-results are almost pre computer age.

Interesting story: Corry Currie worked with me for almost two months but I had to ask him to leave because he refused to pay me after repeatedly giving me the "check's in the mail" line. I have now given him more than 3 months to make good on his promise; but, in the absence of an E-Bay style "feedback" system, my only option is to "out" him here. This was not a dispute or a disagreement. He simply refused to pay me for services rendered. Corry: I haven't forgotten. Brooks Marathon Project (or any other professional coaching service): Be very careful about trusting this guy. P.S. I have never had this problem with another athlete.

"It may not seem like much, but running more than 100 kilometres a week takes a toll on his shoes and requires him to replace them about every three months."
100 kilometres sure doesn't seem like much to me if he wants to be an upcoming threat in the marathon. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he may have said miles...

I doubt it plus no way shoes last three months on 100 miles a week. Mine used to barely last a month. From yesterday in Burlington, strangely enough:

Hey SI since you have nothing better to do then cutt up young runners maybe you should read where he said, Or did you just not think to add that one?
"“I got back into things and right now I’m just trying to take it as far as I can,” he said. “Every runner’s dream is to go to the Olympics.”
Doesnt mean that he says he's going to go to the Olympics. i don't know much about running but Cory is a good friend of mine and is coming off an injury that almost had him quite the sport, Maybe instead of cutting him up you would see how he's trying to progress since the injury. And local newspapers do my mistakes did you ever think of that? they did spell that guys last name wrong.
