If anyone out west is looking for a race before nationals, there is a race on Nov 14th here in Edmonton.
If anyone from outside of AB would like to come, I'll comp your entry and can probably find you a place to stay.
Fire me an e-mail if you're interested:

You must be a CanRun member A lot of the guys/gals from this area (other than those who are racing in Kingston for Uvic) will be racing/running in the annual Thetis Lake Relays in Victoria. Although not technically a cross-country race, this is a solid trail relay race, with lots of undulations through the forests, just outside Victoria. The protocol is 4 legs, 5 K. each, total of 20 K. Some people run as individuals, others do it as a workout of 2 people running 2 x 5 k., while their teammate runs the other 5k.'s. I think Scott Simpson and Kris Swanson won the event last year that way. Anyways, last year sold out at 165 teams, so this is another part of our sport that is alive and healthy. Most of the local senior runners, as well as triathletes, etc., take part...

I wanted to bump this up, since it is happening tomorrow. No snow, yay! I was also wondering if anyone from Calgary might want to give me a ride to the race. My ride just decided not to run, so now I am stuck. You can e-mail me at shariboyle@hotmail.com. I would be happy to pay for gas, and or Tim Horton's, or whatever

Full results are posted: runningsolutions.shawwebspace.ca/pages/view/2009_saucony_run_alberta_xc_seri/Another fantastic November day for XC running in Alberta! The 5km race was won by last year's series champ Chantell Widney from the Edmonton Thunder over Lisa Harvey from the Calgary Spartans and Ciara Kary from UCAC. Ciara surely must be considered a threat for a medal at junior nationals if she makes the trip out to Guelph later this month with the way she has been racing this fall. Heather Sim from CALTAF and Jennifer Kemp from the Running Room rouned out the top 5. The masters division was won by Laura Maser over Karen Stix, both from Edmonton. UCAC took the 5k team title over CALTAF and Thunder rounding out the top 3. The 8km race saw a sweep of the top 3 by Running Room sponsored athletes. Kip Kangogo edged out Faizal Emmualle who had his best race of the season and is rounding into some great form at just the right time in his preparations for XC nationals. Andrew Carruthers completed a stellar XC season with another top 3 performance while Kurt Woytiuk from the Thunder posted a solid top 5 performance beating out junior Gareth Hatfield from CALTAF. Shawn Muldrew from the Edmonton Thunder took the masters title over teammates Sean Barr and Kevin Kornelson. 8km team title was taken by the Running Room Athletic club over the Edmonton Thunder. CALTAF rounded out the top 3. The kids 1.5km was dominated by the Mini-Boltz youth program from Edmonton. Zoe Wong took the win over Carter Wadlow and Zack Fenniri. Solomia Bobier and Silka Mithcell. Rumours have been confirmed and Matthew Norminton was DQ'd for taking a short cut near the finish... Thanks to everyone for coming out and making this event a success. Best of luck to everyone running at XC nationals in Guelph. Matt
