Since we are on junior girls, here is a starting list of predictions for OFSAA:
1. Alexandra Rainville (unstoppable) 2. Cheyenne Hunter (kind of quiet this year, but defending 2008 champ) 3. Stephanie Rigg (having a great season so far) 4. Shannon Labelle (will prove that pre-ofsaa win was no fluke) 5. Ali Woolley (again, having a great year) 6. Kortney Watson (has a great training partner in Cheyenne Hunter) 7. Megan Yuan (best runner in the North and most of the South) 8. Stephanie Jarrison (you aren't the OFSAA 3000m champ for nothing) 9. Jaclyn White (terrific season and as consistent as can be) 10. Taylor Martin (has come up BIG in big races this year)
In the hunt: Aliya Roga, Larkin Davenport-Huyer, Shannen Murray, Katie Codeyre, Alix Tier

It is too bad that Clara Langley from Kingston didn't race Alexandra at the Bay of Quinte Invitational (she placed 2nd in SG at that race which was a topic of discussion on another thread). She is not on the prediction list for JG but seeing how she raced at Trinity she should be up there with Alexandra. Alexandra is at a very small school and I don't think they have taken her to some of the more competitive meets which may hurt her since she is winning all of her races by so much.
Alexandra is very fast and is in the somewhat unique position of being a midget aged gr. 10 who has to race as a jr. Next year she will get to race JG again but looking at some of the speedy gr. 9 girls around the province, this may not be as much of a benefit as it would seem.

Who are the speedy Grade 9 girls around the province?
Have any of them actually raced against each other yet?

In the hunt: Aliya Roga, Larkin Davenport-Huyer, Shannen Murray, Katie Codeyre, Alix Tier Shannon Murray won't be doing much hunting as she didn't run the Windsor-Essex meet. And Jerrison was 3rd behind Bracci and Campigotto at the same meet.

Jamie Phalen FTW in midget girls, or at least a medal

Jamie Phalen FTW in midget girls, or at least a medal She looked pretty solid at the Octoberfest meet back on the 8th and she has run a 10:04 3000m so she is one of the speedy grade 9s that I'm talking about. There have been some pretty solid performances (pre-OFSAA, Trinity, etc) by a few other gr. 9 girls but a lot of them haven't been running head to head yet. That is what makes midget races so interesting ...... there is always the opportunity for the unknown speedster to show up.

Teaches me not to cast preds when I didn't have the latest results. Thx.

Allison Gurret looks like a contender for midget girls aswell, although she only has one race under her belt this season.

back to jr.s Alexandra Rainville might not have it in the bag.... although shes had a great season and her times are excellent, she hasn't had much competition in her races this year. she may not have a good enough kick to beat the best in the province.

Anyone that has watched Alexandra run, knows she has a great kick at the end, the question is can she stay with the lead pack to use it. Also worth mentioning from the east is Emma Galbraith from Franco-Ouest, not a great OFSAA X last years but rebounded well in track. She will likely be the top JR from Ottawa. As mention Clara Langley (Regi) is running well, winning KSSAA easily, and Shelby Kent (TISS) ninth last year should have strong showings this year.

If I was coaching an athlete that is running against her, I would have them make the pace very difficult for her with lots of surges and such to ensure that she is not there for the kick at the end. She goes to a small school that just doesn't seem interested in taking their runners to meets outside of the regular local offerings. It is always hard to bring out your best when you haven't had to dig deep into the well at all during the lead up to the big race. I wish she was at my school and I'd make sure that she was in some quality races

Shannen Murray belongs to a school in the WOSSA area, that is, if you are referring to the same Shannen Murray who placed 12th or 13th at OFSAA last year. WOSSA championships take place on thursday.

You're right. I was thinking of Ryan Murray from Sandwich that finished 3rd last year in midget. She didn't compete at the Windsor meet so is done.

I thought I checked the WOSSA qualifying meet results for Windsor-Essex and found that both Ryan and Shannen Murray weren't listed in the results.

Windsor-Essex is not part of WOSSAA, it is part of SWOSSAA.

Not sure if there are any others out of that group.

I was at the GBSSA meet today and in the midget girls race Natalia Hawthorn easily ran away with it. She looked really strong. So did 2nd place runner Jen Jackson from Eastview. Should be a good one at OFSAA.

Midget girls out of CWOSSA Jamie Phalen looks unstoppable winning easily every race, it will be interesting to see if she gets some competition or if she runs away with it easily.

Interesting development from CWOSSA and the Aliya situation. Too bad, she is a very strong runner and surprised a few people that she suddenly surged to the top of the junior girls division.
