Hey Matt and Paul -- what happened? Kingston guys need to represent a little better in the beer mile ... we invented it after all.

whoa there Myers, I don't think you can talk up a big game in the beer mile, hahaha. I think its the Queens guys that show the real talent, not so much the locals...

Point taken, and I'll admit that I'm a pretty bad representative of the city in this department (although I do have one win to my credit). What Kingston needs is a better grassroots training program. Maybe something to parallel the Kids of Steel triathlon series.

Myers, Methinks my 2nd attempt will bring pride and glory to the great city that is k-town! My first drop of alcohol was but a fortnight x 10 ago and I went out too easy thinking my inexperience a barrier. I intend to run a beer mile a week until CI's (either skipping or going easy the week before CI's) in order to redeem my Kingstonian roots. The fabled 6 min barrier will fall...oh yes, it will fall.

The 6minute barrier has already fallen to me. I ran 5:59 back in 2000, and I would have to say that I believe although I am not the greatest beer miler of all time.
I would have to think that I am the greatest beer miler ever based on talent. My mile PB is only 5:12.37. I think I have the smallest differential of all time. I also held the world record for over a year.

Good to hear Matt -- that sounds like a solid training program. Don't be afraid to sneak in the occasional morning beer 800m. Some will it call it junk mileage, but I believe it's the surest route to long term improvement.
