Hey Guys
Just curious if anyone has any advice on hip problems. Here is my problem I feel like my right leg from the hip down is not my leg . It doesn't hurt but It does feel awkward and I don't I have control of it. I know this is hard to explain but the hips feel like they're out of line, and the right hip is locked or jammed stuck.
I have seen an osteopath and massage and it sort of helps but then It comes back. My legs are both same langth and i have orthodics... does anyone recommend a different therapist?

I think most therapist will do the same treatment, so i wouldn't really change therapists. Do you do lot's of running on the roads or hard surfaces? Because i used to do lots on the roads becuase of the quickness it gave my long runs, and i had similar occurence as you. It could be wear and tear of the hip. It could also be due to the shoes you wear, do you have well cushioned shoes? Sorry i can't help you much but i wouldn't waste your time trying to find the right therapist, becuase with an injury like this they would do the same treatment i am sure. But remember that hips carry most of the weight when your running so its not uncommon for your hip to feel like that.

Just my two cents, but if my left leg didn't feel like it was my left leg, i'd be in a hurry to go and find a doc. that could fix it.
I ran on a screwed up leg for a year, and now can't run more than 3 days straight, even after a LONG time off. I'd get it fixed sooner than later...

i'd get that looked at by another therapist
sometimes therapists either just don't know or have a "block" in their head too and can't think of what to do for you. did the therapists say to you that your hips were actually out of line or does it just feel like they are?
like scime said too - what shoes are you running in mainly? what kind of workouts are you doing (i.e. all track, no track, hills, intervals, fartlek, long runs,.....)? a lot of things can have an effect on your running. the other therapists could have fixed the physical problem but if the underlying problem is your shoes or training then its no wonder it keeps coming back.

well, what your describing kinda sounds similar to some of the stuff that I've had problems with. I've seen somewhere around 2 docs, a physio, 3 chiros, 4 massage therapists, and 2 athletic therapists. The only thing that's ever really helped me is seeing a chiropractor that performs active release. But not all A/R chiros are equal. I've seen a guy in Guelph who didn't do much and a woman in Mississauga (who i think also works in Toronto) who AWSOME asnd also does acupuncture, which I also find helps. If i were able to rest my body and receive treatment from her for a period of time, I'd probably be completely cured by now. So my advice to you is to find a chiro that does A/R (I can give you the contact for mine if you live in the GTA if you'd like) and whatever exercises/instructions they give you, follow them obssesively.

Thanks guys for the help. I have been running mainly on trails/ roads / hills , and a handful of times on the track since January. I have orthotics and use to run in the saucony grid hurricane and loved them but I find them too much of a shoe. So I currently run in the grid swerve. I like the lighter weight shoe. I do a bunch of strengthing exercises but the osteopath told me I have a lot of mobility in my pelvic area. I probably over strench too. Like I said it feels sometimes that from the hip down ward is more lazy then the left the stride feels out of sync and feels like something is preventing me from full range of motion. my right foot is a little flatter than the left and sometimes I feel like that is the problem but this just really started to bother me the last couple of months. It just doesn't feel normal or comfortable.
I would really like to have the contacts you guys have for the A/R chiro's if you don't mind. I don't live in the area but visit on a frequent basis.
thanks again guys for the advice, everytime I try to explain the feeling not everyone can relate
cheers
