If youre having a CIS dream team Guy Schultz has to be on it, he won CIS by like a minute, and he was a consistent top 5 finisher when he was in the NCAAs

I may be getting old and memory faded, but was Weber from CIS? What school and years?
What about adding Boyd (Queen's)?

CIS alumni advancement idea Posted 1-3-2004 17:57
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Happy New Year all. Sorry to inundate the board with so many posts. I find this topic interesting, there is a rich history in CIS cross-country that is ofetn neglected. Hopefully others find the initial post intersting as well. One of the initiatives that came out of the Coaches' Association meetings this year at Moncton for CIS XC was an initiative focusing on an alumni weekend when the CIS XC championship is held in the corridor.
Something like this, a CIS XC Dream Team (for both men and women) would be a nice addition to the press conference on the Friday evening and could be an event that could be tied in to a wine and cheese for CIS alumni. Especially, if we could take it from an informal medium (as it is presently) and create another medium through which CIS alumni could vote for members of the Dream Team.
Anyone with input? CIS championships will be held in Guelph next fall. At present, myself, Dan Hennigar (Dal), and Trent Stellingwerf (Guelph) are on the committee in charge of alumni advancement. It would be nice to have something healthy discussion as to where and how we could take ideas such as this...any takers?

Guy Schultz [guest]
Consistent NCAA top 5? Posted 1-4-2004 03:10

Guy ran quite well when he won CI's, but I don't remember him ever being close to top 5 at NCAAs. i am not sure he was top 50.

cocksedge and epp.
cocksedge put in some great races and in 1999 won by a huge margin with ease.
epp's team score for the past 4 years is incredible - correct me if i am wrong - but i think he only counted 6 points against his team over those past four years.
as for rmac?!? a great track athlete but come on.

How can you consider Cocksedge, Epp, Mackenzie, and even Guy Schultz in the same breath as Fell, Williams, Schiebler, Halvorsen, Matthias, Weber, McCloy, Nelson, and Butler? There are NO comparisons, other than that they participate in the same sport. No offense to Cocksedge, Epp, Mackenzie, and Schultz; they are high calibre runners. The other guys are all 27-28 minute 10km runners. In the last few years Jeremy Deere would be the closest.

I agree that Castellano, Kidd, and Boyd should be considered. Surely there are some UVIC runners from the 80's that would be up there?

I really think that had I not been injured this year I would have proved that I should be on this team. Watch out for me and the rest of the York squad next year though.

to respond to some of the previous posts, how many of the guys such as Fell, and Williams were running their fastest times while competing in the CIS. Just wait a few years for Epp and Rmac to step it up some more and start running really fast times. I don't think Cocksedge or Schultz are going to run fast times again but wait and see about the younger guys
