Midget Girls Battle between Kaitlin Oliver and Emma Norman
Junior Boys Too close to call so far
Junior Girls A close race between Leanne Gaston-Oulette and Victoria Samyn with Victoria coming out on top.

Hughes 10 seconds off Stephane Hetherington's incredible 14:35 circa '02 and 3 seconds away from HENOK LECHEBO's 14:42 circa '03. All the older guys know who Lechebo is and if you don't then take a look at these. Story: www.londonrunner.ca/articles.php?id=83Results: www.sportstats.ca/res2003/ofsaasb.htm Senior Boys 7.03k The senior boys race saw an absolutely awesome performance by Henok Lechebo of West Toronto, who proved that he is 'the Real Deal'. A gutsy Mike Woods of Hillcrest was the only boy to truly contest Lechebo, and was with him through 3k. Amazingly, over the next 3k Lechebo not only dropped Woods (finished 3rd overall) but established a lead of well over a minute before cruising alone to the finish. Joshua Karanua of Nepean took 2nd overall; Jeff Scull of Beamsville barely missed a medal by 0.6 seconds as Woods held him off. Well after the race, Woods was still stumbling around in his own world of pain; after hanging on to Lechebo for that long and somehow fending off Scull at the end, he truly earned his medal today. TISS made short work of the team title, their 103 being well ahead of RS Mcaughlin CVI (221) and St. Mary's Hamilton (239). Robert Watson of AB Lucas was the top local runner, finishing 11th as a grade 11 behind many older competitors. Watson led his young (all returning next year) team to a 10th place finish with 311. WOSSA looks to have a strong senior men's field next year, with Lucas' squad returning and the Junior boys champs CCH moving up to the big show. One runner who will not be competing next year is RMC's Jaimie Bailey, who ran his last high school (and only OFSAA) x-c race with a good 76th place showing, just a few spots back of Bryan Skrypnyk of Oakridge (73). I have heard that woods fell during the race but even still Lechebo ran away with that race. Hughes is IMO in the same position as leeder last year...untouchable.

Now that we kno a little more ill throw down some pred's: sketchy top 25: 1. Hughes 2. Kuternin 3. M. Walters 4. Morrison 5. Jackson 6. McGraw 7. Malette 8. Ahmed 9. N. Walters 10. Milks 11. Berkis 12. J. Rae 13. D. Smith 14. Nealon 15. Meyer 16. Irwin 17. J. Smith 18. Hammond 19. T. Hill 20. Coote 21. Jurysta 22. Zain 23. C. Patterson 24. Scheibelhut 25. Dufour
Teams: 1. TISS (only because of experience over Massey) 2. Massey 3. tie: Aurora/ Dwyer (2 tough to call) 5. SWC (cant give them full credit until they apparently "start tying" 6. Birchmount (i would guess theyd be solid) 7. Sarnia Northern (some depth but i doubt anyone in top 40 or 50) 8. West Ferris (they must be able to find 2 randoms to tag along with the walters)

as is right now no way i think hughes gets taken...only one who has a shot would be kuternin but obviously we dont know anything about him...
i would make preds but they are about the same as run9's only thing i have morrison for the bronze and even though his weak race at mustang i have jcootes up there higher than 20th. and as of now either dufour or pittman will crack the top 25...only 2 masseys in the top 25 i think

They have their top 6 guys back from last year, and they're all running pretty well. Provided that their 3rd, 4th, and 5th guys don't fall at the start line like last year, they should do well. Of the top teams and individuals listed, will everyone be at pre-OFSAA?

zain is no better then any of the other ropsaa guys... ie myself, kevin, and hussein So would you not be classified as being in the same boat as the rest and being a top 20 contender? Unless your first statement is false.

haha thanks alex... at least someone has faith in me... but honestly thats not what i meant... but now that i re-read my post... i see what u mean ... but all i was getting at is that if zains up there so will the other top guys in ropsaa ... and now that u mention i dont think ill be to far off top 20 in ofsaa if i make it... since id have to beat one of those 3 guys as i dont think anyone has any form of a team... p.s alex... i wont let u down this year... and i think u should sport an all ropsaa team

In saying they will be top 20 atleast you are basically saying they will easily beat a good 5-10 of the guys listed....and if they can beat out the likes of Chris Meyer, Jacob Smith, and Jesse Coote (just to name a few) then they must be in pretty untouchable shape.

I will say for a soon to be correct prediction that NONE of those four are going to finish top 20 at OFSAA. They are in fact cool people but we talking running here so if you had other instincts of what was going on let's make it clear. (wipe, squeak) I pledge to bow down with admirable honour to Mac, Wright, Zain, and/or Insane Hussein if he/they make top 20 at OFSAA. Write it down. Also, remember my predictions for the OFSAA HS PREVIEW thread. (declaring Hughes will not win) If Hughes does win (don't count on it), someone may be wearing a MATT HUGHES FAN CLUB shirt at Nats. (but that won't happen) (and I'm not referring to myself wearing it, just his bandwagon jumpers, but he won't win; he won't win I've got 10 reasons why) Hey, remember that idiot who promissed to eat a STOP LEEDER shirt? Whatever happened to him?

hughes and kuternin will be interesting - hughes ran great at mcquaid whereas not many people know what shape kuternin is in - hughes 14:45 is impressive, but kuternin ran an accurate 14:40 3 miler in high park - and the hills there aren't pretty. comapring results, i'd still put hughes on top, but i think it will be a very interesting race.
i'd also place jp malette higher - he doesn't do many of the big invitationals but he always surpises. maybe top 5? also, some other grade 11's should be on that list - benoit boulay, alex hinton, stephen pitman - all are quite impressive. Also simon hodge looks like he'll be having a good season judging by the workouts he's been doing - maybe top 20 as well?

I noticed the Runneymede guy at the Abbey Park Meet / IONA. I wondered who he was then I found out from results that it was Simon Hodge, good run for 2nd!. Runneymede does not have much of a school program so what club does he belong to and who does he train with? Just curious
