So it looks like Simon's time is the 2nd fastest half marathon by a Canadian? Great job, good day for Canadian running.

Anyone know how the race progressed? Did Ryan go out hard and fade? At what point did Simon take the lead? (Sorry if this was posted already)

Together for 10 miles and Bairu pulled away. I wouldn't put too much stock in the fact Bairu got Hall's scalp. I am sure Bairu would say the same thing.

the plan was to "stick with him"(hall) for 8 mies and surge a bit there.simon opened up as he passed the 10mile mark and obviously won by 78secs. or 400 plus meters.he felt GREAT, fit and confident the last few weeks.defeating hall was the goal.

How much serious training would Hall have done since NY?

How much serious training would Hall have done since NY? Enough that he seems quite down about his performance. Check it out- both Simon's and Hall's reactions are there for all to see: www.twackstar.com/TwackStar/Welcome.htmlCertainly he's not at his best right now, but the way he ran today- falling apart after the 10 mile mark when was running at a very manageable pace (for him) up until that point- is disappointing. Excellent runs by both Bairu and Gillis today, and especially the American Brett Gotcher (a 29 minute 10k guy out of college) for his 2:10. Hopefully Drayton will have company in this country fairly soon.

"Rough race" and nothing about his training since NY(actually, nothing on NY). Pretty well sums up why I won't be a twittee or twittor and maybe Steller's question about de-evolution holds some water.

Simon's career continues to improve with the move to Portland and the Oregon project boys.
Contrast that with Ryan's career seems to have stalled over the last two years, after a fantastic 2007-2008.
Will done Simon! Very impressive racing.
