The Speed River Track and Field Club is pleased to announce the addition of Amber McGown from Melfort, Saskatchewan to the club. McGown is a graduate of the University of Oregon and Cornell University.
A former All-American at Oregon, joins Speed River from a stint working with Oregon Track Club and XO Track Club in Eugene. Boasting life time best of 2:05.40 for 800 metres and 4:14.39, McGown was sixth at 2008 Olympic Trials in the 1500 metres. Speed River Head Coach Dave Scott-Thomas commented on the Amber’s addition to the club “Amber is just rounding out our women’s scene, we have a real enclave going. Honestly one of the most exciting things I have seen at a workout was the other night when Hilary (Stellingwerff), Dana (Buchanan) and Amber were rolling together. I think she is tough, talented, professional and experienced and I think she brings a ton to our group.”
McGown will make her Speed River debut, tomorrow at the Sharon Anderson meet in Toronto.
