Though admittedly I am unaware of how you plan to use the data you collect, I'm curious why you might not also request the age of each person who replies. Certainly someone who is currently 19 years old and reports that their PB was achieved at age 19 (I've already seen one response that matches this) is much different that someone who is now 40 and is no longer on the upswing of their career who reports their 1500m PB, especially if you're looking to make a correlation between age and best times on top of the mileage that was run and the number of sessions. I interpreted the subject of the thread to mean that goingthedistance is planning to do a correlation of 1500m time and miles, which means that it is best to get a snapshot of what the training was like at the time of the PB. I think pmac has a point, though. A 19 year old's PB might not have been a good indication of his best possible performance given his current fitness, but someone with more years of experience at the distance is more likely to have a PB that truly reflects what they were capable of doing at their level of fitness. My answers: 1. Male 2. 4:05 3. 55miles 4. 28 5. 3

1. Male 2. 4:04 3. The week of probably 90-100km and 100-120km in the base season. 4. 18 5. 2-3
It's kind of interesting to see how varied the results really are.

If the goal is to only correlate mileage and 1500m personal bests, why request the age at which the PB was run? Because unless you take into account how old the poster now is, that's an absolutely useless statistic since most of the replies continue to be from people who will more than likely run faster in the upcoming track season than their current reported personal best.

I interpreted the study to be looking at how intense someone was training (eg. how many times hard a week and comparing that to miles ran) with where someone peaked in their career. The performance level would also be looked at.
However, if that is the case, age now would be a necessary question to ask.

Male 3:55.8 ~90 in buildup, 75 the week of 23 3
I can't imagine what useful analysis you could do with this data. But, best of luck!

I am doing a school project and i need a 100 responses. If you could please answer the questions it would help me out a thought. Thanks! Are you male or female? What is your personal best time for 1500m? How many miles were you running a week when you ran your pb? How old were you when you ran your pb? How many "hard" sessions did you do a week? Male 3:45 69 16 3

Tell me junior, how much time did it take you to come up with the comedic gold in that post? A good fifteen minutes while you were taking a break from writing that book report of yours?

Giving false information devalues this whole study. If you feel your PBs are so slow that you will be criticized for them, then you're wrong. They actually increase the number of samples and broaden the range of subjects.
Instead, you've decided to post something that will garner far more ridicule than any time you possibly could've run. I recommend you delete this post as soon as possible to spare yourself further embarrassment.
