[loverunning]

I did this last year and had a lot of mixed thoughts on my picks and what not. At first I wasn't going to do it this year, but had some friends talk me into it, so here they are, although I know they are not so accurate from about 40 on, its a good look at where the not so outstanding runners finish, and also can check out some team standings.

People need to stop calling Jeff Stone for the win, sure he won ROPSSAA, and sure he is a very strong runner, but let`s be honest, a pace of 3:16 at ROPSSAA is not going to win you OFSAA, no matter what. He may break the top 10, I don`t think so but well see.

I can see LaPorta, Azenhas, Holt, Denny and McRae finishing a little higher, i think Evan will run better than 19th as well, but overall it's a solid top 100 i would say haha

It`s not that I don`t think they can finish higher, it`s just that the field is so deep, once you start filling guys in there are no spots remaining and everyone just keeps getting shuffled down.

how about a pace at macquaid almost the same as hughs the year he was 3rd ....or a pace on a heartlake course MUCH faster than the god litre the year he won ofsaa.... smooth buddy. just wait for it.

the heartlake course is nowhere near how tough it was 2-3 years ago when leeder ran on it, stone yes hes very good, but come on now, you being from ropssaa and all should know better, he'll have a great result, but wont win the show.

i'm not doubting that stone's a good runner, i wouldn't say a beast at all, he's definitely fit and running well, but he's never done anything in track at OFSAA or south region, and has made ofsaa xc, once before this year? he'll have a good finish, but top 5 is a reach

Its as simple as that. Stop comparing him to Matt Leeder, he`s not even close to him. If he has an outstanding race, he will be in the top 10, but most likely he will be right around 20th.

I wouldnt go as far as to say stone ftw..but 3:16's on ROPSSAA( one of the hardest courses aka. hill-city) has to be considered solid nuff said. Stone for top 15.

"sure thing boss, what should I run these miles in 4:25?" coach replies "maybe if your doing 6-8 but I only wanted you to do 4 so lets go a bit faster" , which pissed off the legend Jeff Stone, and you don't want to hear the results of that workout.

from ropssaa... 22:46 , much faster than any previous years, when the guys from those years were around 20th, however stone running a minute and a half faster than previous winners... figure it out.
