depends.... are you going to punch 152 in the balls? I don't want to be friends or rivals with someone who lets a teammate get away with that kind of shit. I assumed you were a west coaster, but if you're from ontario, you got no excuse to be this soft. hahaha Of course I'm not going to punch my team mate in the "balls". He's a team mate... All your talk about hard... and soft.. has me worried here... Oh well, once our 4 x 8 wipes you guys up... you can do whatever you guys do after hours around the track...

We could have a race, invite all the schools in Canada and call it something like the Canadian Intra-University Championships.... Wait...is that right? No it's not. Intra-university means within the university. You're looking for inter-university meaning between universities.

And my apologies, I'll try to refrain from using the words "hard" or "soft" around you, as it seems the allusion to cocks is just constantly on the tip of your tongue.

I leave this thread for one day and it turns into nothing but dick and balls jokes. Terrible.
152nd.
Sundodger is the first meet of the year. It is not the NAIA championships nor is Willamette. It is a great sign that you guys did well but and beat SFU but it does not mean that you will continue to beat them. The guy that leads through the first mile of a race does not always win. You are going to learn that University running is more than about just purely how fast and how much potential you have. Its about juggling the stress and still be able to perform. September is easy. But in October and November things start to get tough. Studying for midterms, pulling late nights for essays, girls, booze, cold weather, trips to the hospital, homesickness all start to come into play. Generally as you get farther in your university career you get better at time management and handling the stress than you do in your first year. Hence why they call university a learning experience. I am not saying that the freshman won't be able to cope with these factors, cause often they do. But I am saying that putting the kind of pressure on them that you have isn't really fair to them, and doesn't create in my opinion an ideal environment for optimal performance. Back in the day when I ran I always like to think of freshman as bonuses. If they do great, its a bonus, but you depend on vets. Freshman have enough stresses on their mind the last thing they need to be thinking is "If I don't perform today we are going to lost to SFU or not make nationals".
This is why I think SFU has the better team. They are returning two All-Americans in Wambui and Brockerville. They are returning the regional champ in Keir Forester (reread the part about pressure on freshman and it resulting in a sub par performance at nationals), The Mitch Culley Express has ran more than solidly enough at Nationals to be a fifth guy, and I think Friesen is the best runner right now both teams combined. I can't see him finishing outside the top ten at nationals.
Having said all that I think UBC has the potential to finish ahead and am hoping they do. You have some great talent and team spirit, and if things go your way it's going to be awesome. But think about what I wrote.
That got a little heavy so I'll lighten things up.
I heard that phoenixvic may in fact swing both ways, I would very much like to "lob it into" Katie Tongue, for the fact that I would be able to use countless James Bond-like one liners with reference to her last name, and lastly I just sent a friend request to Ms. Gant on facebook so I'll work on some photos.
I am too old for this stuff but I wanted to make sure you guys didn't make the same mistakes that I did. It took me four years to have decent result at NAIA's. I made more mistake than anyone and all the time I thought I knew what I was doing. As it turns out I didn't know shit. So if you do nothing else this season, take Bomba's words as Gospel. Write it down and starting preaching it to your teammates. Realize that you know very little and he knows a lot.
Talk amongst yourselves.

Oh and if you are going to make a thread calling your academic institution "Canada's Prodigy Building Dynasty". Please proofread the title and spell it right.
You have devalued my degree.

listen to jeff's wise words little ones....he has learned his lessons well......
willamette means little...sundodger means nothing.......in fact i would argue sept and oct mean next to nothing except prepping for Nov.....
....it's all about November, but i will say this UBC's depth is solid....they could have 2-3 guys out of their top 5 with sickness, injury, etc....and not lose a beat...
.....if SFU loses anyone of their top 2-3 they are in trouble....

1:55 or not, do you know how hard it is to train for track while you are also fighting in the octogon
Mr Symonds, my hat is off to you sir and I give you permission to add my younger sister on Facebook for you to shrug one off to.
To 1:52, did you have your first sip of red bull or simply forgot to take your medication. The last time I heard a rant like this I was on the playground back at parkland elementary and some kid said to me his dad could beat up my dad ( our dads never met because I overreacted and threw a rock at the kids face, but I promise I have grown a lot since then)
Honestly there is way too much to read on this thread, and all I can picture are a bunch of guys having tnfnorth and eastbay open while watching re-runs of the beijing 1500m finals on youtube, as there mom yells at them to pick up there dirty compression socks up……I’m sorry but that’s funny cause I think we are all guilty of that at one point…so laugh!
To make a post like this and not be criticized, just wouldn't be any fun. I will give you props on your excellent recruiting this year, but one thing i will say is the attitude and sportsmanship both your coaches and your athletes demonstrated at sundodger was sub par, I am not going to go into detail nor name names but, there was a line crossed both towards me as an individual and as part of the Clan, but hey thanks for the motivation.
To UBC having a good line up of young guys, congratulations. SFU, we had a hired assistant coach who did a lot for us, but his contract ended and we never got to go that extra mile to pick up the guys we wanted, so we start from scratch. But do you know how SFU feels right now? Hungry, we are training very hard right now and we want blood, our team motto is simply “Don’t give a Fuck” we work hard every single day and we will be ready come Biola.
And personally to 1:52……watch out cause you are tied down on the tacks and the Express is coming full steam ahead.

152nd, maybe you should get your facts straight before you keep on bragging about how "awesome" your team is. I don't even go to UBC and I know that Rohan Stewart and Joel Halcro aren't returning to the team, so that means that your 4x4 team essentially has no one it. So once again, as stated as before, "SFU's 4x400 B team will beat UBC this year, and the A team will sit back and watch".

To all the SFU naysayers... it should be noted that 2 years ago SFU went from being unranked going into Regionals to taking 4th place at NAIA's.
Taking top honours in Sept/Oct races is pretty much the equivalent of winning the warmup before a workout...who really cares who runs the quickest warmup?
Suffice to say, its' great to see that both teams are competitive again, though unfortunate to see that being able to actually keep up to the SFU crew has gotten to the UBC freshman's heads.
Finally...Express...haven't seen you this riled up for cross-country in a long time.

To quote a good friend / mortal enemy of mine "its one thing to talk about taking my sis out for a nice seafood dinner, and an entirely other thing to trumpet your greatness." (btw Gant I'm recently single again and will be more than happy to take your sis out for a nice seafood dinner)...
The reality is I think UBC has some wicked depth and can make something cool out on the point - it's unreal to see and can't wait to see track practices next year.
I hope some good trash talk can transpire and dish out only what you can take and when in doubt get back to the basics... question the sexuality of your crosstown rivals followed up with a detailed analysis the womens team (aesthetically not athletically, obviously).
And remember, it's only university sport - it's not like we're talking Haney 2 Harrison here...

Regarding the 4x4 the potential depth is still unreal. Forget Rohan for one second. We still have.. Joel Halcro Reed Gustavson Tim Smith Rowan Forseth, and more potential depth from those who haven t previously trained for the 400. So honestly wait till the relays boys cause we'll be waiting for SFU at the finish line. And its funny that you mention suicide.. cause your concrete fortress must have you thinking thoughts of leaving a world which you cant handle.. We feel for you we really do. Im sure the UBC team can back me up in saying that it sucks living on a campus that has...colour and... life... and hot biddies! I wish i could live on a hill.. in a block of concrete prison! But anyone to boast that its too hard to train for track and the octagon obviously hasn't moved past jerking it to the ultimate fighter eh chuckie? 8=> I hope you enjoy eating an nonexistent bird you psycho. What the hell is wrong with you! Obviously living and studying in such a messed up campus has gotten to your head. newf-- We don't need to hear about your hidden childhood fantasies. If you like guys with Tighty whiteys on then there are websites and newspaper ads for that. Im sure youll have fun being taken advantage of by a transvestite named Starla!

In terms of the school rivalry, I am totally neutral. I'm glad this thread got going because I hadn't heard a lot from the Coast in a while and I'm really excited to hear about some fast runners with some serious potential that is just great. My era kinda bridges that of Milne et al and Symonds, so I remember some real class runners out at UBC. But there are some horrible burns going on out there. Just pathetic. Some of you really need to put a little more thought into these posts. You know who you are.

The initial remark on the layout of our campus....not bad but I honestly have no clue what the hell you meant by hot biddies....you have hot buddies? Newf I think you underestimated the shower scene over there on Korean coast, oops I mean UBC. And now I come to the UFC little dig. I mean if you ever watched those guys train, its pretty damn intense. I have a modified program myself, I hire about 20 of your engineering students and practice my various arm bars, rear naked chokes and striking....I know its not much of a fight but I have low budget and i can get them at bulk prices. "I hope you enjoying eating a non-existant bird you psycho".......where do I go with this one.....do I take the route in saying; you're right the UBC thunderbirds are non-existent, more then push overs they are practically extinct......or do I go out of my way, buy a turkey, put one of your team uniforms on it and actually roast it on the BBQ....oh wait, i am a psycho....did you originally call me a poopie face and have your "good looking buddy" change it for you?

yeah cause sfu is really lacking depth this year...
they may not have a thousand 800m runners under 2 minutes, but doesn't mean they dont have depth

I am not sure why there seem to be a lot of focus on each others memebers, I for one never have such thoughts, but I am sure the original author of this thread had his tool firmly grasped as he typed away (although it may not have been his own hand grasping it) The Express is having a hard time staying on track, mainly due to countless UBC athletes throwing their bodies right in my path. Excuse me while I scrap the t-bird from my wheels.

This is the lamest thing I have seen in a very long time. This makes me ashamed to be a runner. No wonder when you run by people on the street they call you "homos" and say "nice shorts", it's because of the runners that act like you girls. Seriously, grow some balls, and let you're running do your talking for you. No wonder Vancouver is considered the gay capital of Canada. Please if you're going to trash talk, at least make it worth my time to read it. I honestly couldn't care less about your mothers and your genetalia.

cfmalone? Let me guess. Hmm, you are from Ontario! You hate BC! We get it, but isn't pre-ofsaa or ofsaa or post-ofsaa or something coming up why don’t you go fight with some of your runner buddies over who is going to come in the top-100 and get back to us. If you don’t like what you reading don’t read it. As far as I know I think this is for fun and we are just trying to get things stirred up over here on the west coast.
