Landsend 1/2 marathon and 10k, Oz chose the 10k and ran a course record and a road personal best, nearing his Stanford track personal best of 29:12, with his 29:18 performance today. Followed by ex-Brooks project guy, who despite what some beleive is still happy pursuing excellent results with a personal best performance today of 29:31.
Jim Finlayson was 30-mid I beleive.

That was Richard Mosely in 29:31, and Finn about 30:36. Also a very nice 34:34 for Marilyn Arsenault in the 10K, and just over 1:20 for Cheryl Murphy in the Half, on a not-fast course.

...ha ha I forgot to type Richard's name. I knew who it was, plus I did a post race interview with him and found out everyone pronounced his name incorrectly. Phoentically the correct way: Maws lee....not Mowe slee...it was a couple of epic performances by them and yes Mar ran well yet again....

Road Races on the Island tend not to be hyper-fast. Often, routes are undulating, sea-breezes are present, there are few if any "net downhill" races, athletes are in preparation for higher goals, etc. So within that context, it is worth noting that Steve Osaduik, who ran 29:19 today moved up to 3rd on the all time road 10 K's on the Island, and Richard Mosley moved into 6th, with his 29:32. This list includes Canadian runners only. The other names with performances in the Top 15 are: Graeme Fell, Phil Ellis, Gary Barber, Jon Brown, Paul Williams, Bruce Deacon, Paul McCloy, Chris Weber, and Steve Boyd. MIA are such as former Victoria resident Carey Nelson, who ran 28:04.05 on the track in Victoria in 1991, Dave Campbell, who won the Sun Run over brother-in-law Graeme Fell in sub 29:00, and top Canadian runners based in Victoria, such as Graham Cocksedge, Jim Finlayson, Paddy McCluskey. Randy Cox, Chris McCubbins (for a while), top Canadian triathletes - Simon Whitfield, Kyle Jones, Brent McMahon, and many others. Not an easy list to crack !

Temperature was perfect, just a bit of a breeze. The course wasn't pancake flat, but just had a few inclines and turns...enough to keep it from being boring. it was well marshalled as well. A great job by the organizers, and I'd certainly recommend the race to anyone looking for a good 10k.

Thanks for the vid.
So, he's doing RVM again, and there may be some "competition"? Does anyone know who is coming over for it? Thanks.

As per usual they are holding the Press releases until late. Bob Reid has said there are some guys that are 2:15 to 2:20. I know there have been some Kenyans milling around town, not the 'A' list guys of course, probably C+ list ha ha - which would mean that Steve will probably take it if he can run what his 29:19 indicates. One thing with that precarious week, is when the date is like Oct 3rd sort of thing, like barely into October, the weather is often perfect, filtered sun 10 - 12 at the start with a 16 finish. With the October 11th sort of date, just far enough into October, we end up with rain and as you know or a stormy year sometimes.....this year it is a little later...probably to benefit Steve I would think.
Steve seems to for whatever reason run much better at home or not too far from home - he has had a little bad luck once getting to the east or to London UK....this is his backyard and he knows the route well and people know him, they will be yelling his name. I think he could very well run a 2:14/15 for sure, but it always comes down to that day eh...you just never know.
I think he will do it.

It's great that he's talkin possible PR, yet at the same time, realizing that this is NOT the main marathon in the next several months. He's in it because "he screwed around all summer", hahaha.... I like his attitude.

Serious question, and I mean no disrespect to the athletes who ran the times by asking this:
Legit course?

From the RVM site:
"Is the Royal Victoria Marathon a Certified Boston Marathon Qualifier?
Yes, the Royal Victoria Marathon course is AIMS, IAAF and Athletics Canada certified and can be used as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon. It is also sanctioned by BC Athletics."

I'm pretty sure he meant Landsend 10k. I believe Steve inquired about this as well and was told that the distance was accurate.

So far all I have found out is that a local course measuring guy - who is quite exacting - he measures/marks and sends in the paper work for all the big races around here said, "I don't know who laid out the course on the day, but I notice the spikes and paint on the road and the cones were all in the right spots"
He raced the event too.
Looking down the list of athletes - I know or know of about 1/3rd of the names and many did not have super great races, just these two Richard and Steve, both who work out together. If you look at Finlayson's time I think he said he was about 1 minute off of his road pb. A few days ago he apparently nailed an indicator workout in town.
So I suggest if there is a chance that it is not exactly accurate, it must be very, very close.
