Ok here we go again. The outdoor season started a couple of weeks ago and I think we have enough results to start up this years lists. I'll try to keep up with the meets as I find them on the Copps / Thousand Islands/Cossa/Track database / London Runner/ and Kennedy sites. If anyone has other sites that post results please pass them on. I've kept the rankings to the events I'm interested in 400/800/1500/3000/and Steeple. Others can do rankings of other events but I won't be.

yesterday at the 10 000m championships in london, the newmarket huskies put on a very impressive showing in the open womens 1500m.

kirsten stewart (newmarket highschool): 4:42.88
katie o'hagan (markham district highschool): 4:43.96
caileigh glenn (sacred heart highschool): 4:48.38

all of these girls are in grade 11, and it should be noted that it was actually quite windy. it will be interesting to see how fast they can go a little further into the season. it's interesting that the 3 girls who will be fighting for a spot on world youth are all from the same club!
after seeing katie o'hagan race at the odd meet i think she will without a doubt be running close to 4:30 by the end of this track season.. she has a LOT of potential and from what i've heard, is a very hard worker.

What I find even more impressive than those 3 girls running those times is this:

Natalia Hawthorn 95 NEWMARKET HU 4:43.32 (This girl is in grade 8, and ran 4:40 at the end of LAST Season as a grade 7!)

other than one girl from quebec.. if you look at the results from legion nationals in sherbrooke last year you will see that most of the girls who ran sub, or around 4:40 were 1991 (and thus too old for world youth). girls from newmarket huskies were the top finishers in the 1500m when it came to people born in 1992 or 1993.
i'm not saying there isnt other girls out there, because i'm sure there is, i just think its great how so many people from one club can potentially run standard.
