That is brutal! When you take out the 7 women, you have a field of 10 men competing for a NATIONAL championship. Anyone out there know why participation at this event was so poor?

Anyone out there know why participation at this event was so poor? (1) It was announced ~6 weeks beforehand. (2) It was in Winnipeg, where it just snowed. (3) Entry fee after Oct 4th $135 (not including t-shirt) (4) I don't believe they were using this as an ekiden selection factor, as they have in the past. Is that enough? By the way, if you take out the 10 men, you have a field of only 7 women competing for a NATIONAL championship! That's brutal.

Why bother having it?
Not that it matters but the snow wasn't a factor--the weather the day of the race was ok(a little cool)

The women's field in the Canadian Running Series Zoo Run this weekend is a whole lot more competitive than the Canadian Champs: Megan Brown, Shari Boyle, Krestena Sullivan, Rebecca Stallwood, Tania Jones, Nancy Tinari to name a few that are registered.
