true ^, they had a patch of hay like 10 metres from the finish line that a lot of people thought was the finish line so lots of people either gained or lost places

Here's my photos from the finish.
Mo had put up his hands and pretty much stopped before he realized he hadn't crossed the line. Olivier then caught him and Mo either collapsed as he was crossing the line or just after wards.

There was a muddy patch about 10 meters b4 the finish line that looked like a finish line. From the angle I was at, Mo looked like he stopped there, and when everyone began yelling for him to keep running it was too late and he got outleaned
He coughed up blood after the race (not the first time he has done this) and was in the paramedic tent for 15-20 min post race. |

While I know nothing of Leeder's choices, I disagree with the first statement. This is the Canadian Cross Country championships. If he wishes to challenge himself against the best Junior XC runners in Canada, this is the only place to do it. If that is not enough competition, nothing is stopping a 19-year-old from competing in the Senior division against Olympians and preparing for their transition into the senior ranks. You could use the same logic to question why Jessica Parry chose to compete at OFSAA XC or track. She can't qualify to anything from those meets (even the track one, as she already had time standard from the first London twilight meet and placing at OFSAA is irrelevent for qualification to international competition). She can't even move up a division to face tougher competition, as is possible at the Canadian championships.
For those that weren't at the meet today, they opened the gate up a little ways out from the finish to allow the lead vehicle to turn off course. There was hay thrown over this area as it was also the spot where people were allowed to cross in between races, creating a muddy area. Runners coming into the finish could be able to see that there was a clock further down the finishing chute, where the true finish line was. Opening this gate required officials that may have looked like finish line marshals. It's unfortunate that Mo slowed where the vehicle turned off as opposed to where the finish line clock (and line) was situated; he ran an excellent and exciting race to that point.

Seriously... how long does it take to post full results on the event website.
Let's go already.
That's mud, not blood, in the third photo.

Sick performance for Leakos. Congrats to James and his coach Ross Ann and the rest of Riversdale. That is quite the performance for a 92 born saskatchewan kid.

Well it's not on his leg; it's in front,
but on closer inspection it probably is blood.
The colour, it's globular appearance, the fact that there is no mud of similar colour or consistence on the ground around where they are, his posture...
That's a lot of blood for one cough. That's pretty gross.

If you watch his interview on Flotrack, he talks about his stomach was cramping and how he puked near the end.

Lefty remind me to come to your course next time you are hosting a national championship.
Due to it being so important I take the time to confirm all placings by videotape to make sure that they are 100% accurate before releasing them to AC. There are always some errors that this corrects. For example Rob Watson wearing Rob Jackson's bib #. I posted the preliminary list last night before this was done so that people who couldn't make the race in person could see those eligible for national team selection and have a general idea of the race results.
Full and official individual results are now posted at the start of this thread. Complete individual, team and regional results will be available on the AC site tomorrow and are already on guelphrunning.ca at:

1 CRICHTON, RON 72 M ETOBICOKE Ontario 29:15 20:52 101.62
Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't an age graded score >100 mean they are the fastest in the world in their age category? Either way props, if I'm 72 and running 29:15 for 8k in those conditions I'd be ecstatic...

that is one of two mistakes in the masters results, the other being the 18th overall finisher (Ryan Smith, who is listed as 24 yrs old)
