So ive observed how this works i wanted to give my pick on who i think is the odds on favourite and probably will and a darkhorse who has a chance to seriously shock some people
Senior Boys Predictions
100-Aaron Brown( Kids unreal)
200-Aaron Brown ( not sure if hes running)
400- Allistar Moona - Seen him indoors and an impressive time outdoors
800-Mohammad Souleman- Havnt seen him race but have seen times
1500- Eric Dillon- Very strong times i believe hes broke 4 recently
3000- Ross Proudfoot- This guy is an absolute monster, this is his year
2000 Sc-Daryl Smith- 6:01 this early in the season is very impressive

Darkhorse Picks
100 & 200 - I have 2 names , Marlon Laidlaw & Ike Omoruna(will be very stong contenders)
400- Phillip Osei( kids quick, this is moonas year)
800-Chris Medeima- Watch him run a 1:53,very strong muscular guy)
1500- Rob Denault- Very good runner , should be right up there
3000- Xavier King- Wants to make up for Ofsaa xc im sure
2000m Steeple- Dont know exactly whos running but someone who did entrigue me is Nick Pimental ,watched him battle with deGroot at cardinal carter, although looks like degroot and daryl will battle, is chris dulhanty still running? if so he will be up there too

Solid, but again what is with people and the daryl smith predictions, when three of the four guys that kicked him to the curb at ofsaa last year are back AGAIN...pimental lol

Souleiman isn't allowed to run high school track this year just so everyone knows. He switched schools and his district just recently decided to not let him run.

If Souleiman has changed schools there is no appeal. That is a longtime regulation with most (all?) school boards - if you change schools during your time in high school you may not compete in the same sports you did at your previous school for one year. You can be on any other school teams, though, and return to your other sport(s) the following year. This is to prevent 'recruiting' by schools.

Aaron Brown is gonna kill, then Marlon.
Also, Moona is too quick for anyone to catch him I'm afraid

Senior Predicitons

400m - I don't really know much about the 400 field but im gonna say Alistair Moona judging by his times

800m - I'm gonna say it'll be a good race between Miedema and maybe Seleshi.

1500m - I have total confidence that Denault will be a huge factor, cause he ran a PB which is either faster or close to the times that the grade 12s are running. Grade 12s for it i'll say Dillon, Seleshi, Miedema or Esselink.. should be a good race.

3000m - I think Ross will be a huge factor, not necessarily the guy who will take it for sure because its so early in the season but others would be Daryl, King, Denault, Esselink maybe. I have a feeling there are gonna be alot of fast times this year, not necessarily THE FASTEST but on average it'll be a fast race.

Steeple - Degroot, Daryl, Dulhanty, Collison (no particular order)

I think i'll go for an underdog, im calling bj cunliffe for the win in the 800 assuming he has a good race. People tend to forget his speed but this kid has run 1:54's in grade 11, and is easily capable of a 1:52-1:53 if he holds up.

There real good, but I don't think eamon will get beat in 800 after a 156 but hutton will give him competition for sure

I bet if you gave degroot the option of staying in high school forever, taking part in hugh cameron "no talking allowed" workouts, he would take it. like damn guy get a life.

i am by no means counting out tristan woodfine. but seeing as he didnt run ofsaa track last year it's tough to call him for the win if you dont know whether he'll actually compete

I'm also wondering why Tristan Woodfine hasn't been mentioned in any of the 3k preds. He has the fastest PB out of anyone he will race and he did in grade 10 running solo!!

I'm pretty sure he's right ... or at least he's tied it .. Proudfoot ran 8:27 at Rowland, and there is some close ones with Xavier and Denault who both ran 8:31-8:32 .. Daryl Smith has a low 8:30 (I think) and is probably looking to rewrite that one, Steve Hosier has an 8:31 at World Youth i believe and should be a medal contender again considering his bronze and double gold at the last 3 OFSAAs, he always seems to show up in the 3k .. Not to forget, im pretty sure Esselink has 8:32, and Dillon has 8:33? Degroot I believe also has 8:33. I'm just going off of memory, but i think Woodfine has the fastest, with many trailing very close. It'll be a tight race for sure!

I may be forgetting some people too, but there are all these guys plus even more in the mid 8:30s range.. the depth is amazing!

I'm pretty sure that Woodfine went 8:27 solo at East Regionals last May. It was one of the most impressive runs I've seen in a lot of years.

The simple fact is that Ross Proudfoot is in amazing shape (a credit to his coach and Ross) while Tristan is not; time therefore is not on his (TW) side (although talent is a plenty).

Ross has something to prove ... he has always been "in the mix" and always a top contender with good range from 800m to 3000m and XC.

Xavier (great heart) and Denault (great speed) are contenders ... Xavier was on 8:15 (4:28 at mile) pace at Rowlands (although him and Darryl exploded .. while Proudfoot running a better race sat and then pushed the pace).

Contenders:
Ross Proudfoot
Xavier King
Rob Denault
Evan Esselink
Chris Dulhanty (sorry if I spelled your name wrong)
Darryl Smith

Tristan had some issues with his calves earlier in the season, last I heard. He's not out of shape. Also last i heard, which I doubt has changed, he will not be running EOSSAA because he's away at Pan Am selections for triathlon.
